Hi everyone, I would very much appreciate any tips or advise on how to repair the heater-vent outlets on the firewall of my 1970 Challenger RT that i am presently restoring.

I have just removed the cowl section, and the vent outlets on both the drivers and passenger side are completely rusted out.

Thanks

Johnny

By the looks of yours I would say a complete replacement is in order.

I doubt that this part will help you out, but I post it anyway...

Here are some of the shots I took from my mess. The the top section was replaced with 18g sheet metal and cut it to fit. We used a metal bonding agent in a tube and sanded it once cured. It came out real nice. The plan is to glass in the top areas and then the black cowl cover will mount right on. The cowl cover and firewall pieces are available through Year One and AMD.

Hope that helps!

Here are the latest shots from the cowl area. We welded and fastened the new metal piece in and then finished the panel with some all-metal and a good deal of sanding.
The glass work begins hopefully next week and then topping it off with the upper cowl piece.

That All-Metal is some tough stuff! I may have to use a bit of it myself.
