v8 emblem

The Challenger/Barracuda book by Jim Schild suggests 1970 Challengers had a 'v8' emblem on the front fenders below the 'Challenger' script. I don't think I have seen this emblem in any photos. Does anyone know if these were standard on your basic 318 model?

Yes! Here is a scan from one of Paul Herd´s books.

I have tried to find some info on this myself. I have seen one 2bbl 383 car with these emblems, so I don´t find it unlikely that these cars also used the same emblems.

Thanks for the info Christer, all I have to do now is track down a couple of emblems. I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find them (other than Ebay) :?:

A little update: These emblems were used on 1970 standard V8 models with 2bbl carburators.
(According to the Year One catalouge)

Here is an oddity. Never before have I seen a V8 emblem placed beside the Challenger emblem. I guess it is because it is a pre- production car. The photo is from an original brochure.

The most logical thing would be if all non-R/T V8 Challengers had these badges. We all know that Mother Mopar isn´t always 100% logical though.

I have seen a 4-bbl 383 Challenger on ebay advertised as a survivor. It had the V8-badges on the front fenders.
