Chrome DODGE lettering on hood

I have a 70 Challenger with performance hood. It says DODGE on the front of it. The YEAR ONE catalog I have does not list this for a 70. It does have a hood letter set for a 73 Challenger. Are they the same?

The only thing I know for sure is that they have different part numbers.
I canĀ“t say if they look the same or not though. Maybe you can ask the ebay-seller below about the differances. It seems like he sells all of the part numbers if I understand him right. (The 73-74 part numbers ends with -006, -007 and so on)

Hope this helps.

Please, post any findings that you do. Thanks.

Mike send me an E-MAIL to let me know what I owe for the letters and shipping. I tried sending you a PM but evidently that doesn't work or I made a mistake somehow.

FYI letters meant for hood and ones meant for 72-74 rear are bit different. I'll try to remember take photo of my car. It has hood letters on back and difference is easy to spot from side.

Aren't the hood letters supposed to have pins on them and actually be mounted to the hood?
The ones on the rear panel are usually adhesive, right?
(I want to make sure before I drill 10 little holes into my hood!

Thanks

The hood letters are very thin. They are maybe 3/16". The ones on the 72-74 tail panel are very thick and they are tapered to fit against the curved tail panel. Both the front and the back use pins on the 72-74's. The hood letters use small stamped steel nuts and the back ones use pink plastic retainers.

cant you just cut the pins off and use some automotive grade double sided tape?

i wouldent drill holes in the hood that is a bad area for rust/leaks,tape em on

Yes. Probably easier if the hood does not have the holes to start with.

I just looked today at the hood letters from YO. They don't list for a 70 which is what I want also. There are 2 pins on each letter I have now. Well there is supposed to be anyway. A couple have only 1....Since I put the blackout on the hood I am in the market for new ones. I may get the set from YO and then see if they are compatable..........David

Who? Me?
All 1970 Challengers with the two scoop R/T hood had the holes in the front for the DODGE lettering.
If yours has never been drilled it is not the original 1970 hood.

I had completely forgotten about this thread and it is only a few months old.
