HI,
A FEW YEARS AGO I PARTED OUT A CHALLENGER WITH THE POWER SUNROOF OPTION.I CUT IT OFF PAST THE FACTORY SEAMS AND STUCK IT IN MY SHED.OUT OF CURIOSITY I PUT IT TO A BATTERY AND HIT THE SWITCH IT TURNS THE MOTOR BUT DOESN'T MOVE THE METAL DOOR I SAVED THE INSIDE PIECES OF FOAM BUT THE HEADLINER WAS GONE.DOES ANY ONE OUT THERE KNOW HOW RARE?POSSIBLY ANY DIAGRAMS OF SET UP SO I CAN MAYBE FIX IT AND PUT IT ON MY 71?ITS IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE, EVEN THE WINDOW CHANNELS AREN'T RUSTED.I KEPT THE TITLE,DASH AND FENDER TAG TO HELP RESEARCH IT BUT CAN'T FIND THE FENDER TAG RIGHT NOW.(IT'LL SHOW UP WHEN I QUIT LOOKING FOR IT!)ANY INFO OR PRODUCTION FIGURES WOULD BE HELPFUL. THE DECEASED CAR WAS A 1972 CHALLENGER. THANX

There are other threads on this board that question the numbers of cars built on the production line with the sunroof but no clear answers. Of course when they became popular many were fitted by dealers although these will not have a fender tag code.

Look in both the 'bodywork' section and the 'VIN/option codes' section for information on these sunroofs.

Meanwhile here is a diagram from Paul Herd's book. Click on it to enlarge. There is also a 'Reference Restoration' 1 of 2 1971 six-pack Challenger with a sunroof in the June 2004 Mopar Action out about now although it does not show any details of the roof.
