Can anyone tell me the location for installing the T/A front spoilers on the valence? I recently purchased them on e-Bay and unfortunately came without hardware. Any hardware recommendations?

I bought a set on Ebay w/o hardware, too. I just bought some #10-32x3/4" screws & nuts w/lockwashers. I plan on 4 per spoiler. As to location, I just downloaded every pic I could find of these installed as a reference. Since they were a dealer installed option (I think) the location does vary some. Good luck (I haven't got mine on yet, so no pics. Sorry).

If your Challenger T/A publication does show anything useful, please feel free to pass that on! I seem to remember a set on Ebay recently that were plastic repros (mine are fiberglass) that had molded-in holes and there were 2 on each end (IIRC) and 1 or 2 somewhere in the middle. Can't find that pic now. Oh, well. Good luck.

I need to hunt through my cellar to find the Challenger publication. Once I find it, I'll digitize some pictures and post them.

My replacement spoiler eyebrows are plastic without predrilled holes but the originals were fiberglass. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the info. It's not too late, in that I still haven't put them on. Ont the other hand, I won't be putting them on period. I found a 1-piece "racing" front spoiler for a Challenger on Ebay and won that auction, so it'll go on my Challenger. Thanks anyway!

I have just received a pair of front T/A style spoilers (Thanks Doug!) and although i do not intend to fit them just yet I was wondering if anyone had a copy of the factory installation instructions?

I figured I could just look at photos of T/As to figure out the placement but it is tougher than it looks.

For a start which is left and which is right? Now I come to look I can see photos of Challengers with the spoilers both ways around! Also some seem to be fitted closer together in the center and others further apart.

The ones in the photos above are right close together. But most I have seen have a gap.

So is there any written instructions for the dealers that came with these spoilers originally?

OK I suppose I will just have to guess it. I will fit them the way around they are in my first picture above even though that yellow T/A looks to have them the other way around. I will line up the outer edge of each one with the inside edge of each turn signal light. The back edge to the back edge of the vallance.

As I expected these 'glass spoilers will need a little work to get them sitting fush against the panel. I will use big washers and a metal plate along the length of the inside of each spoiler to help conform it to the panel shape and to give it strength.

But I will wait until I get the bodywork done next winter to fit them. If anyone comes up with any actual measurements before then please post them here.

All I can add is that I would do the same choise, when it comes to which one is the right -hand and the left-hand spoiler. It looks much better to have them as in the upper pic. (The yellow car has them wrongly switched, if you ask me)

The curve of the valance panel opens up the gap between the spoilers anyway so it looks better to have the less angled edges in the middle.

Dave, had I kept those spoilers I'd have put them on like in the top pic, too. More angle on the outside edge. Follows the lines of the car better, IMHO.

I just wanted to make sure before I fitted them. It would be kind of embarrasing for me to get it wrong! But the truth is I have only ever seen one T/A for real in my life and checking a small detail like that was the last thing on my mind at the time.

I still think it would look better the other way around so I might do that anyway. I don't give a monkey's if it is the way the factory did it or not if it looks better.

I believe I read somewhere that the factory never installed the front spoilers on either the T/A's or the AAR's. The parts shipped in the trunk and the dealer put them on. If that's true, then either way is possible "off the showroom floor". I'd say pick what you like and just do it! 'Course that's easy for me so say, since I'm putting on a racing-style 1-piece front spoiler .

What you say is correct. The front spoilers were shipped in the trunk to avoid damage getting on and off the transporter.

Have you sorted out this questionmark, Dave? I found these sequenced built pair of T/A:s in MoparMuscle, May 1998. Maybe the pic can be useful to you!?

Yeah I decided that the sharper angle should be on the outside edge. Just as those two in the magazine have theirs. but look at how differently they are mounted. The gap in the center is different. I just posisioned mine the way I thought looked best. More like the right hand car. Which is about 95% more thought than the dealer would have put into it.

I would also choose to mount them with the sharp edges pointing outwards. It is funny that so many Challengers have them mounted the opposite way! Lack of knowledge or different taste?

Who at the dealership would get the job? Their top mechanic? Or his sidekick?

There were no pre-drilled holes. Just an instruction sheet and you know how well instruction sheets get read. Would the guy bother getting a tape out and carefully mark the exact location? I doubt it. I am not even sure how informative the instructions were?

You can imagine it can't you.

Quick glance at the instructions. Wizz wizz wizz with the drill and they are on. As long as they didn't look crooked they were fine. Job done. Boss will not be back for another half hour. More time to spend in the toilet with the latest magazine.

Foolish of me to believe that you guys would settle with only the first two pages of a Challenger article. I should have known better. Now I know.

Conclusion? Spend zillions and buy a german car? Don´t think so! We love these cars anyway in spite of some flaws and strange designs, don´t we?

I think you are right on spot there, Dave.

What puzzles me is that no-one on this board seems to have (or to have seen) a mounting instruction. Did Mother Mopar really let the mechanics do this job with only a picture as a reference or what? Are there any answers out there?

I have been trying to find the instructions for the front spoiler mounting and the muffler and tip mounting for the T/As for years with no luck.

The instructions for these were shipped with the items loose in the trunk for installation at the dealership, if any one ever comes across a set please let me know? I have been looking for them for ten years so far.
