Filler from the factory?

Postby Clint Beccue (Clintb) » 30 Jun 2003 2:43

Just removed the vinyl top from the c-pillars along with the paint/glue. Where the quarter meets the roof, there is about a quarter inch of body filler between the two panels. The car has set in storage for the past 18-19 years and an unknown history before. Does this indicate previous panel or roof replacement? They wouldn't send a car like that out from the factory?

That's with every one Clint. Mine had a repaint last year and I saw it too. It's also the place where you can see almost 'bumps' in the body on every e-body. I have it too, even with the frame connectors installed. Don't worry about it.

The Challenger was never given very much developement time before it went on sale. They were put together with a ton of sheet metal screws and lots of daft little bits of plastic and metal. Just slam the door shut and feel/hear the lack of quality in the sound. Chrysler/Dodge shot themselves in the foot in that regard.

Still a damn fine looking automobile though....
