Has anyone replaced an inner fender? Are there any rules of thumb that I should keep in mind when tackling this kind of job?

Be gentle with the chassie during this job. The inner fender create a lot of stiffness to the front subframe and when one (or both are) is gone, the chassie is fragile. I know that people who do a chop job on their cars roofs (lower the roof)use to weld in some temporarily rods/braces so that they don´t wind up with a twisted chassie. Maybe it is a good idea to do something like this? (or maybe it is overkill, I don´t know)

Would it be a good idea to unload the torsion bars before I break the welds and remove the inner fender then? I was planning to remove the old inner fender ONLY when I recieved the new one from Auto Body Specialties.
