Randy, Don't eyeball them. I asked the same question when I restored my 72. Hans actually measured his and posted the measurements. Should still be on the site. Try a search on 'fender scopes'

Must have missed this on Randy, sorry. I did a search but couldn't find here too. I will try to make new measurements this weekend and post the thing. I don't have the old one laying around.

As you wished Randy! The horizontal measurements has the 60cm on the door-fender line while the vertical measurements has the 20cm laying on the bodyline off the fender. Note: measurements are made in CM Randy! I hope you can figure it out with this.

How are those E scoupes attached?
I am going to be removing them for an upcomimg paint job.
Are they attached from the inside of the fender or do they have pop off type release clips?

There are a couple of small pins at the back of the scoops which go through the fender. Mine where attached with some sort of glue around these pins at the inside of the fender.

While the scoops are off during the repaint try to find a lenght of hose which would fit tightly around the pins. Then after the repaint place the scoop / pins through the fenders and at the inner fender slide pieces of that hose, full with glue, tightly over the pins.

I have never seen the back of these scoops but I would guess they are supposed to be held on the same way as the badges with pins. In other words there should either be metal clips on the back of the fender that twist onto the pins or plastic plugs in the holes for the pins to push into. I don't know the answer but you can bet the factory ones were not glued on. Have a feel at the back of them to find out what is there.

I removed these scoops on my Challenger. If I remember correctly they were held on with nuts similar to those that hold the side light markers in that they were self taping. They were smaller and had a acorn type head. They were not glued on or fitted into rubber mollys.

Ah. Same as the things that hold the "Challenger R/T" badge onto the front grille on my '70. Thanks Doug.

They are called "pal nuts" You can find them at most hardware stores.
