Roof rail weather stripping

My son and I recently bought a 70 Challenger. It was in need of quite of few things when we got it. My question is, and this is not to sound stupid I just don't know.We just replaced the roof rail weather stripping and when the windows get rolled up does the glass just rest on the outer part of the rubber or is it supposed to roll up into the rubber stripping?I'd really like this to work out right. It seems like the window wants to roll up and stay on the outside by the pillar post and the rest can't make it's mind up.same with the rear windows. Can anybody help us.

There should be a small groove affair in the seal that the window rises into to make it airtight, you can juggle the glass lifter mech to achieve this
