Flush fitting fuel cap

Hello all. I'm new to the list and fairly new to the mopar thing so bear with me! I've got a '70 Challenger w/the chrome flip-open fuel door but I want to switch to the plain, body colored fuel cap. Is this a generic cap or something unique? I didn't see the plain cap listed in catalogs from YearOne or Paddock. Help!

This is because most people want to fit the flip type! I am sure there will be someone that would have an old one lying around or would gladly trade you for the flip open cap.

Just for your infomation.
To the best of my knowlege I believe the factory fitted flush caps were all painted body colour. However the replacement caps were all chrome so the owner would not have to get the replacement painted.

I'm in sunny North Florida. I'm certainly interested in a swap. The flip cap I have is in fair to good shape - it's 30+ years old, after all! I know most people prefer the flip top, but I'm not big on a lot of trim. I'm even having the body shop metal in the holes where the D-O-D-G-E script was on the hood!

Dave, I am amazed at your knowledge. So you mean this chrome cap I have had since 1979 was a replacement and not the original?

Jeff.
The chrome-or-body-colour question was something I tried a little 'message board research' on back on the original message board.

As far as I can make out the chrome one was offered as a replacement and never fitted on the production line. Some dealers may have fitted them as a sales pitch but more likely because the original was stolen off the sales lot by someone looking to replace their body coloured cap.

If anyone finds out anything different let me know but the evergreen cry of "Well I know the original owner and he says it came from the factory that way" does not count!
