help converting my floor for manual trans

Postby GibDTD » 07 Aug 2014 15:21

Hey, looking for a little help, I've finally gotten around to replacing my front floor. The old has been cut out and the new has been test fit many times and trimmed as necessary. I am converting from a column shifted auto to a (hopefully) 5 speed manual trans. Before I put the floor in for the last time do I need to make the cut out and attach the 4 speed tunnel hump? If so, how big or how close to the size of the 4 speed hump does the hole have to be?

Photos would be especially helpful to see what the factory did.

Below is last test fit before drilling holes for spot welds.

Depending on the size of the five speed you may need an aftermarket hump or build your own. Check out page 17 of Eddie's '72 Challenger build (under board members Challengers) He's added a hump for a five speed.
