Electric bike class at the TT this year setting average speed times close to that of the Supersports classes of just a few years back.
Seen the electric drag bike in the States running late 7's in testing with the torque wound right back cos the tyre can't hold it?
I can see this becoming a big thing in lake racing

Funny how things come full circle! The 1st cars were electric! Yes, Drew is correct, I believe autos will be mostly electric in the next 20 years, BUT there will always be a demand for the IC engine. At least till we die off!

Oh congrats to the UK Teams,,helluva accomplishment. I saw a interesting Land Speed vehicle on the Tele a year or 3 ago. A Mechanical Engineering school built a hydrogen powered car to exceed 300 MPH. It was semi successful but had electrical issues. Too bad it also had aerospace engineering and was very complicated.

Yeah the early part of the last century was 'our era' for rich playboys and aristocrats to throw their wallets at cars and boats in the exciting new world of the internal combustion engine.
We got some excellent old museums with all the surviving cars and boats on display.
The Twenties and Thirties does it for me, Campbell, Easton, Cobb.
We even have some of the American record setters on display at Beaulieu Motor Museum near the south coast.

This is a real achievement on two levels:-

1- It's a record, and the British hold it.
2- At some point in the future, petrol engines will be looked on in the same light that we visit museums and look at steam- powered cars. At least these vehicles make the prospect of alternative fuel potentially pulse- raising.

Of course, all this was predicted back in the early 1970's by Bennie Hill's chart- topping 'Ernie'.

Hell I would be fine about going back to real horse power. You can't get greener than a horse. Completely re-cyclable too. The only problem will be keeping the catalicic converter up it's arse.
