1970 Challenger 'bumper' research car.

Thanks once again to Christer Nilsson for sharing these images from his personal collection.

These three photos are of a 1970 Challenger that evidently was used for some bumper testing. A lot of work was done to the grille & front fender sidelights as well. The original photos are shown first, then close ups taken from them so you can study the details. Does anyone know where this car is today or have any other photos of it or similar cars?

I am guessing they used what was the current model at the time to try and work out how they were going to make a Challenger conform to the new bumper regs when they came out? I suspect the car was probably scrapped after testing.

They did.
This is development of the '73/'74 bumper.

YES and it has hurt the value ,one of the reasons why 70,s are the most sought after ,glad they waited :wink:
