My cheap harbor freight sandblaster took a crap after the 3rd bag of pool sand. Tonight I'll take the hoses off and play with it.(The sandblaster not me)

Drew, I placed some old screen inside the red funnel, I duct taped it to the inside, works very well! Ive always had trouble with this set-up. I think my compressor is way to small, it only allows 30 seconds of blasting before I have to let it 'catch-up' to itself.

I think it's because the cfm rating is too low and the tank capacity is too small, the machine produces too much water when it does each tank fill cycle, try draining the tank every fill, annoying but worth it

Then buy a bigger machine :D

Adrian, you and Drew are both right! I took off the manifold under the tank and it was plugged with small pebbles. Works fine now! Butt, I think Ive outgrown this small compressor. I need one twice the size and power.(Thats what she said)

Yea I have a big ass compressor and it to runs out of air and I have to be patient when sand blasting more pressure work faster ,fun stuff ..................NOT :s001: I am glad I have most if not all my blasting done....I hope it sure is messy :x

Eddie, have you tried different media? Soda blasting is said to be not very harsh and what doesn't get cleaned up is okay with the soil (won't contaminate it). Plus soda blasting won't burn thru thin metal.

We use aluminium oxide in our machine for smallish pieces, even shoved the odd wheel rim and head in there, leaves a lovely prepped finish :D

Yea I have tries ally oxide and it does work very well, but for cost effective approach I use play sand and strain it well, for 25 lbs for 5 bucks it is well worth it and recovery is not as important ,I try to get most of it but it wont hurt it to leave it on the ground,

The soda media works very well too but, I could only find it from a Restaurant cleaning service and they didn't want to sell me any,Harbor freight has it, but not in the local Harbor freight store here I didn't want to wait for shipping, cost and running out and needing more etc.

Hi Barc! Good point! Soda is fine but I am blasting thick steel parts only. I have to agree with Drew. "Black Sand" or allum. oxide works best,, but it's way too expensive and I'm not re-claiming it. I can get 50 lbs. of filtered play sand for 4-5 bucks. The same for allum oxide is around 25 bucks!!! I just spent 4500.00 on my assend! I'm so broke......
