No, the scanner has not fallen onto my head. Instead I am trying to figure out which setting that gives the best scans. Is there anyone out there with some good suggestions?
Below, I have sanned the same picture with four different settings:
1) 300 dpi, colour, brightness=0 and contrast=0
2) 300 dpi, colour, brightness=0 and contrast=1
3) 300 dpi, colour, brightness=1 and contrast=0
4) 300 dpi, colour, brightness=1 and contrast=1
* I can barely see any difference between these four settings myself.
* The original pictures are black and white.
* I have tried to scan them in greyscale mode, but from what I can see, that only makes the scanned pictures look worse.
* The scanner is a HP Scanjet 5300C (max 1200 dpi)
* My opinion is that if I choose to scan the photos in 600 dpi then the result will not become any better.
Are the scanned pictures as good as they can get, or can I somehow make them look even better?
(Yes, I do plan to crop them!)
Thanks in advance.
