Barrett-Jackson 2012

Postby fal308 » 01 Dec 2011 8:12

Saw an ad on Speed for the Scottsdale extravaganza Jan 15-20. According to the consignment (as of this writing) there are 32 Mopars on the list, including 2 T/As, 1 - '70 Hemi R/T, 2 - '70 Pro Touring Challengers and a '71 Challenger with a KB 528 Hemi. There are several B bodies, a couple of '50s Mopars, a nice '34 Dodge custom cabriolet, several Vipers and an interesting '55 shivy (with a P51 Merlin engine).
Whether you like B-J or not, they get collectible cars in the limelight.

The Monkee mobile is the car that got me into American cars/Drag Racing/Hot Rods. I would LOVE to own that. :D

Come on and admit it.....you guys really want the Pacer X  The car I really want from back then would be the Batmobile though.
I'll admit I grew up watching the Monkees too....haven't seen them in a couple of years but they were on one of the cable networks devoted to old TV shows a few years back. They're still fun to watch.
Also wouldn't mind having the cheap old beachhouse!

Growing up under a cloud of smoke and coal dust, in a small terraced house that opened out onto the pavement at the front and a cobbled lane at the rear, that beach hut lifestyle of the Monkees seemed like heaven to me.

And the cars in American shows!! They were so big and brightly coloured.

Very very different to the life I had as a kid in the 60s. I used to go to bed dreaming of driving cars like that under a warm sun.
