Poor bloke, him and his family come from Olney, only 10 minutes from Santa Pod, most of us knew him or his family, deepest sympathies and condolences to all :(

What even more tragic is the fact that from all the reports a lot of folk were saying that they were waiting for this to happen...amount of cars on a small track etc.

Yes Racers were nervous due to the newly paved track surface, they can go much faster than nascar, and are not as safe as f1 IMO,JUST TO MANY CARS ON A FAST TRACK :(

Im amazed at the state of some American circuits like Laguna, the concrete walls and lack of run offs are just scary. Thing is tho is that Indy, CART, Nascar etc run on those types of track all season and the number of major incidents is still quite low. How do the cars compare with F1 and the like?

Oh man you should have seen the circuit here it was a mix of asphalt and concrete and like you said walls so high the racers are racing in a canyon, I talked to one of the guys that raced that day and he said some of these tracks as well as the ovals are to small for the type of speeds they can reach , just insane I tell ya.....there WILL be change, that is one of the reasons they have re stricter plates for neckar racing they cant keep em from going air borne :?
