Not true actually. The English clubs all have a massive number of players from all over the world. Which means that there are not a lot of English players to pick from that get regular top league games. All our best team players play for other countries!

Yeah you have to be English to play for England. Most of our players in the top teams aren't.
The manager always used to be English at one time but hasn't been for years now because managers of top international standard are few and far between.

In the 2006 World Cup, an estimated 376 channels worldwide broadcast the event, generating 73,072 hours of matches, build-ups and punditry.

"If all the 2006 coverage were shown on just one channel, it would take over eight years to broadcast non-stop," says a Fifa spokesman.

Managers and players are appointed in fixed term contracts. There is usually several million pounds involved for top men.

that is a very interesting read, here in denver we only have 2 million people,4 million in the whole state, and this town is rabid about all sports, aside from the 4 major sports,we also have a major league lacross team as well as a major league soccer team, this small town supports them all quite well

there is money out there for these sports but like the article says, the corporate money goes to the 4 major sports and the other leagues look thin cause all the talent is else where,

one thing for sure is base ball is huge south of the border, and there a ton of latinos make a ton of money playing baseball, but the most popular sport is still soccer, last time i checked it was still the number one sport in the world, despite what americans think about american football

Realised last night I have to go to a wedding on Saturday night.

It's one of lads my wife manages. The reception is in a crappy sports center next to a supermarket. Classy.

Going to completely miss the game.

Hang on. The function is in a sports center? They are bound to have the match on the screens unless the bride has put a ban on it.

England were f'ing crap. I hope they get their shit together real soon or they will be out of the competition real quick.

Drew they are only allowed to tie a match in these early group stages. They have to win or loose in the later stages. Extra time if needed. As a last resort a penalty shoot out. Which England always loose.

ahh so they do have a shoot out,and yes you need some great shooters for that, the NHL(hockey) adopted a similar rule it at least give a winner,

and yes from what i heard England gave the yanks a gift

Hey, at least MY idiot f**king loser team DID enter the competition!

No wonder I despise this f'ing game :
- I heard over the weekend that the players were going to get their bonus, win or lose - about 6 or 7 million euros apiece (of shit, I guess).
- And from what' I've heard today at work, apparently some of that money comes from my taxes! I could care less about private money, and sponsorships, but I'd like to avoid paying for their second Ferrari with my taxes.
If Nike is ready to pay 46 million euros a year for the French team, they can keep it, no need to give them back in 2014!!

If those guys were worth anything, they'd be playing rugby anyway.

Now where is my year-round, NHRA-standard dragstrip? That's what my taxes are for!
