Yeah you get some real extremes in your temps out there dontcha mate?
I had the odd bit of pissin out a bit of coolant when hot but now even in the middle of summer on an 85 deg day it won't spill a drop, even in town traffic. An Ali cross flow rad, a new guide fan drive and getting plenty of timing advance have enabled that

I thought the same thing ,so I did some research and the rod I have is correct ,so I decided to modify another bar from a c body and reverse where the adjuster is ,the clamp on the adjuster was the culprit so I got a longer rod ,the one on the bottom is the unit that came on the car ,the 2nd one from the bottom is the one I used ,and made one or two bends and got it to work, the other two are examples of what others have used so I grabbed them too

the other side I used a bfh and got it to fit

One other thing I did was eliminate the kick down levers , I used a Lokar cable .same one I have used for years on my chally it really cleans things up and works a bit smoother

Looking good mate. Don't forget to clean and de-grease the headers before you fire up and heat cycle the header coating.

the difference between a cuda and a chally.....just an inch or two,

I had this tti system laying around from my chally and it has been 12 years or so , but the chally was rear ended and bent up the system a bit .....not enough to shorten it for a cuda but worth trying to fit and with alot of hammering, cutting, and having Lisa sit on the bench so I could clamp it in the vise and stand on it .......I got it to fit :o and the car now has a complete drive train .....almost ready to start the pescado

Also got one of the grilles done with help from Lisa she did all the taping and polishing the bad parts I polished on a lathe,it cam out great considering it was half of a grille when I started :D

It's looking fantastic mate. :)

Great to finally see real forward progress on it. I bet Lisa is really looking forward to seeing it finished now.

Yeah the difference between a Cuda and Challenger is two inches in the floor plan from just behind the front seats. As any girl will tell you, another two inches makes a big difference.

Yea the more I work on this thing I realize two things ,these cudas and challengers are the same but different, and I did so many mods to my challenger it is a bit difficult to compare assembly ,

I am at the fuel line area and am contemplating using the factory mechanical fuel pump or installing an electric fuel pump, not sure at the moment as it will run with the factory unit but down the road with the crap 10% alcohol fuel we have here it is not carb friendly ,and I need Lisa to be able to drive it with out vapor locking, any suggestions are very welcome :D

Well if you do decide on the electric pump you are going to have to spend a lot more money.

A mechanical pump will last years unless they don't like alcohol? and as long as the pump drive rod off the cam is not worn it will provide plenty of fuel. In fact I like a big mechanical Carter pump used with a regulator and simple in-line fuel pressure gauge. Simple cheap and reliable.

The electric pump though will need mounting well to keep the noise down. It will need a regulator and pressure gauge too but I would advise to also run a return line back to the tank as electric pumps don't like being in a "dead head" system. Many of the big brand high performance electric pumps seem to be very unreliable. You might want to do some research into them.

Man that Cudas really getting to look like a car, I love that part of a build when it all sort of comes together.
Wicked lookin car mate
Thought about using an in-tank electric pump from a factory F.I. car, say a late 80's 5 litre Mustang or similar? My bro just fitted exactly that into the tank of his 69 Cougar, seems to work well enough

Yes in the best interest of cost I will use the factory pump I have the carter unit so I should be fine fr now how ever I did take the time to run a return line so I can plug it for now and if problems arise I will do something else ,btw Ade, XV makes a tank with the fuel pump in side it is priced just under 900 bucks.....ouch

900 bucks!!!! Kin ell that's crazy! Could get a proper fuel cell for circuit racing/ street capacity with a pump, fittings etc for that much moolah :D
Daveman always advised me to use a Carter hi-po mechanical pump and I got one from Summit for about 100 of Lincolns mugshots

Im going with a Ricks Hot Rods Stainless one with an intank pump 450 L/Hr. and drop sump with 3 fittings, one for feed, one for return,(Dave's right deadheads are trouble prone), last one for vent. I am using E-85 so a corrosion resistant type is needed. Alcohol absorbs water. :) Gasoline is fine and I will be using both. www.rickshotrods.com

That looks to be a nice set up ,the XV stuff is just and old style tank with a FI pump installed .

The old saying if I have to ask how much it must be out of my price range :D

$1400 ,, with pump installed in a deep sump "box" that's there to prevent air from being sucked into the line when the tank gets low on fuel,, then the fuel injectors go static. This causes an lean condition and burns the motor up. Of course no one should allow there tank to get that empty either. But in the middle of Nevada,,,,,, I will in the future go with a FAST XFI Injection. But for now I just want to get it running good with my E-85 4150 Holley style carb, bypass regulator, return line and fancyass Tank setup for future Fuel Injection.

http://www.fastmanefi.com the problem with any carb coming from sea level to where you live is it's gonna run rich!!! FI compensates for this with a Baro sensor(MAP) BUT I hear ya Bro,,I may just pack an assortment of Jets and bedone with it  I'll have a wideband on the collector and a full time A/F gauge so tuning it at a truckstop shouldn't take too long.

Yea the only tuning I did was adjust timing , dont like messing with fuel it stinks to much.

I am sure by the time you get it running you will set it up and forget it ...............

Dave just bring gloves the is all you will need, nothing else
