Unbelievable footage, don't know how the other pilot kept the camera still.

He hasn't got a lot of hight to be ejecting towards the ground. He probably made it OK though.

Something looks strange. I realize this must have taken a split second to rip apart, but if you look at the ground in the picture, it looks like the jet didn't move in flight while this was happening. If the jet was just traveling a few hundreds miles an hour, it surely would have covered more ground than that.
Photoshop?

yes, that's well spotted. Perhaps it is a hoax, like so many "amazing" pictures on the internet. They was forwarded to me from my Dad. Yes they look about only maybe 15000 feet up - at cruise speed which is around about 300-400 knots, the scenery would have changed for sure! You'd have to guess that from the time the cockpit starting breaking away to the time the pilot decided to eject that at least 6-7 seconds would have passed. Well done.

It is computer animated. The most telling things are the resolution, lighting, and reflection.

A good animation though! Wonder what it was made for....?

Thanks for the followup guys -those pictures had me fooled! :s023: Yes it was a computer simulation prepared as part of the investigation into the real event where an F-15 suffered the same thing. And the article said that that the pilot "walked away" relatively ok, suffering a dislocated shoulder, broken arm and cuts and bruises.
