We're now being forecast to have sleet on Sunday. :s003:

Ironically, we've just paid £100 for a party for my eldest son's birthday, at an indoor snow park. You've got to laugh....

 Only you could manage that Tim.

Looks like the sleet and snow will not hit me until late Friday on Friday. I probably could have used the bike for work. But I got on it after work last night and the bloody front tyre was flat.
I had to lock the bike in my office overnight and take the underground home. I got a mate at work to give me a hand to load it into the Jeep this morning.
Oh well. At least I try to reduce my carbon footprint.

Well it is not so bad so far Tim. It was bad for about 15 mins on the way into work but quickly eased off and melted. I don't think you will get the snow and bad weather you want to test your 4x4.

Looking good for Saturday night/ Sunday morning. If we head up to a range of hills called the Long Myndd it may be properly deep at the top. :s002: I'll take a camera, just in case.

Did you get a chance to get the Quadratrak biting Dave? Gotta be better than one (flat) wheel drive. Stay off that bloody bike in the bad weather!

Keep meaning to ask- what's your opinion of the sound system in your Jeep (Infinity?)? I remember it getting awards for the superb quality.

Seems OK? It has some sort of amp under one of the rear seats. I can't say I was impressed or anything.

You should hear the cheap(ish) 50w/50w rms JVC system I put in the Chally. That one sounds pretty good for the price.

I can only remember one or two times we have had snow this side of January.
It wasn't much but the leaves haven't finished falling yet!.

I just drove back from the Dijon racetrack half an hour ago.
Got there yesterday night, it was snowing during the last 30 miles.
There were patches of snow and ice on the track this morning (but surprisingly, it was not that bad, it actually got worse later when all began to melt and the track was wet).
It started snowing again at 3 PM. We left immediately, and the snowflakes were walnut-sized by the time we reached the highway. After 40 miles, it turned to rain. Which did not stop for the next 200 miles. My alternator bracket bends when the belt is too tight.
And I found out today, when the belt is wet, it slips...

I had another trackday planned next weekend, but I think I'm going to stay home...

It is rare to get snow before christmas these days. Anyone know when the last time was?

Hopefully it boads well for a good dumping of snow some time in January.

Going to be sunny and 10 degrees until the weekend here Tim and then a bit of cold rain and sleet for the weekend when I want to be outside working on the Jeep.

You picked the best day to travel. Sunday is forecasting 4 degrees and clear. Saturday is fog :( , Monday is snow :D .

Roden is about five miles from my house. Good luck with the boxer, let us know how you get on. :s017:

Well I don't know what kind of a weekend you have had Tim but it has been clear and sunny up here. :D
Freezing fog Friday night though.

Today I waited until almost lunchtime for the temprature to climb above freezing and then I went out to work on the Jeep on the drive.

I fitted;

Two new liftgate bump stops (stop the liftgate rattling)
Two new gas struts (stop the liftgate slaming down on my head - these were really expensive at £70 each).
Four new KYB gas shocks (feels more stable when turning now)

And I took of that squeeky idler puller from the PS pump housing and greased it up. Seems to have stopped squeeking now.

I was going to change the trans oil/filter and adjust the bands but it was 3:45 and I noticed that the light was fading fast and the temprature dropping like a rock so I decided to call it a day.

By 4pm I had packed all my tools away and it was -1 C. The temp has dropped 1 C every hour since. I was just out and it was -4 C already and it was only 6:30pm.

Ello mate, our weather was exactly the same. Sunny and zero to minus four all weekend. Took Roscoe out for a walk yesterday afternoon, not a soul about.

It's been promising heavy snow for us on the Met Office website for about two weeks now. Every time I look it's moved out another two days. :|
I thought I'd top my battery up last night in readiness (car should be running on two, parralleled up). At 4pm the car was already iced up. Scraped that off and went out to check at 8pm. Iced up again. Scraped that off, only to find it iced up solid this morning.

That Jeep of yours must be like factory new now Dave. :s017: Did you have any problems sourcing the KYB's for it?

I took Diana out for a pint at 9pm last night and it had dropped as far as -6 C by then. I can't remember when it was last that cold at this time of year. I don't think it has even reached that temp at any point in the winter for years here.

I was putting a Summit Racing order in anyway for my xmas present (new digital timing light to work with the MSD on the Chally) so I just ordered the shocks from there at the same time.
I wish I had known VAT was being reduced from today when I put the order in because I would have saved a couple of quid if I had waited another week.

The squeak is back on the idler pulley. I will have to get a new one after all. :x

Total so far for the Jeep is about £1,400 including the £900 purchase price. Still not too bad. The pulley will cost another £30 and they want to charge £45 to program the second key fob I got from ebay.
Plus now it looks like there is something up with the turn signal relay.

Got dog okay, red and black boy about 15months old, we've called him Herman Munster cos he's a naughty little boy trapped inside a grown up's body. Our own boxer, Ajax, has taken to him well. We a happy family !

Final thought on this thread.

If my seaweed, fir cones and grunnions are all calibrated and correct, I reckon we're in for some harsh weather after christmas in the UK. I reckon (hope  ) mid/ late January will see some heavy and protracted snow.

You read it here first.

8 inches of rain in one area to the west of me last weekend.

When I told my wife someone had 8 inches she was very interested until she realised I was talking about rain.
