Southern Indiana is on the national headlines right now . Looks scary out there. :worry:

Use the water in the hot water heater for drinking. Just don't turn on the tap in the house as it will contaminate the whole tank. There should be an outlet on the bottom. Shut off the supply valve on top and crack the line behind it. (next to the tank). Clean out the debris on the bottom first as it will be full of minerals.

Thanks Drew, Jon I went and shut off the valve behind my tank as you said. I always keep 6-10 gallons of distilled water for Coffee and my Sun Tea. I'll use that for drinking&Cooking. and my dogs of course. I ran some water in some spare jugs and put some Iodine tabs in it if and when the distilled water runs out. It's also 95 degrees with a 105 heat index, but Thankfully the Electricity is On. I spoke with my neighbors and some have lived out here for over 50+years. They have never seen anything like this. Good news. They changed the forecast to Clear and sunny skies for the next 3 days.I appreciate the advice given so far. It has helped me tremendously..

I think, I would look for a new home on much higher ground someday. Not that I believe 100% of the global warming argument though.

Hey Eddie, I am here for you man if you need anything, I just dont know how I would get to you. Interstate 70 is closed west of Indianapolis. Interstate 65 is closed south of Indy. State roads 31, 135, and 37 are closed south of indy. My town received 10 inches of rain in 12 hours. Call my cell number if you need anything.

Jon, Bob, Pat, Thanks for the support. I think I am going to be OK but man, my neighbors have lost almost everything! I went outside and the water has receded some. Bob, I dont think you could make it even if you had to. Thanks so much for thinking of the R/T though! :thumbsup:

We got hit with that storm also. Had a funnel cloud near my in-laws and received several inches of rain also. No where near the idsaster your area is having though

Thanks Barc, I appreciate that man. If you can get down here for a day or two let me know I have both my place and my Parents place you can stay at. I am seriously thinking about moving the R/T to my Parents home in the city of Terre Haute where the ground is a little higher elevation and will need some help with that. The forecast looks ver grim this next weekend coming up. They expect rain on Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun if this comes to pass their will be a flood of epic proportions here. The River which is 4 miles west of my location is at record flood stage. It's 26 ft. the flood stage is 14 feet! It's never been over 27 ft.(A new record) they expect it to go over 30 ft. if this heavy rain comes. The ground is already saturated very bad.

you should another front hit here last night , you should move it , cause if the storms hit colo, first especially denver that usually means the mid west is next , hey better safe than sorry :wink2:

Thanks Drew! That front you are talking about will hit here on Wed/Thur then stay until Sun! I dont think I'll escape it this time. My R/T sits approx. 10" above the ground and we are at least 2 ft. above the water line. If however, the rain dumps another double digit amount, I'll be fucked pretty bad. :frown:

Time to find a place for the Challenger. The owner of the Indy 500 lives on Farm about 3 miles from my place and he is on pretty high ground and my brother works for him so time to make a few phone calls. I appreciate all the advice, I can use it. :thumbsup:

I have been away in a hotel for a few days but heard on the news that there had been flooding in your State Eddie.

I did wonder if it would effect you.

You have been very lucky by the looks of things.

Thanks Dave, Wayne, Barc, Drew, Jon, Bob,Pat& everyone else, I appreciate the thought and support. The situation is as follows: Clear skies today,(Mon), but tomorrow it is supposed to rain heavily in our area. The water has receded somewhat and the most important thing, the R/T is safe for now. I think I'll stay put after weighing my options. My parents home in town is actually on lower ground. My brothers employer who owns a Farm near here is flooded. There is only one access road and a truck with trailer may not make it. The county roads are washing away especialy over small viaducts or bridges that Farmers use for drainage. It's thundering outside right now, but fortunately no rain, just yet. I'll keep you guys posted. I spoke with my neigbors who are still 'under water' they have lost everything. I am very fortunate my friends, VERY! Thanks for the advice&help, Eddie Barc, when this clears over you must come down, I owe you a white knuckle ride!

It is a strange coincidence but it has been exactly a year since large parts of my country were flooded.

I can't imagine rain in the summer. It would seem to be a nice change of pace.

Yes, Dave you are right man, I remember watching it on the news. The worst flooding in U.K. for over 100 years? Somehow we must have 'switched'! :lol:

I awoke this morn. after raining all night and the flood waters are where they were a couple days ago. :frown:

However, clear skies for the next 3-5 days. My wife has been stranded at Sams Club,(Wal-Mart), where she works as a manager because their store is flooded as well. Bastards wont give anything to the employees regarding 'damaged' goods. They will place it all in locked trash containers instead of giving it to the poor and needy. BTW, that landscape is absolutely gorgeous Dave!

Eddie, that sucks about your wife being holed up at S.C. They don't give away damaged merchandise due to liability. I used to be in management at Aldi's (grocery chain). At one time we would give away old foodstuffs (day old bread etc) but then the bottomfeeders (lawyers) told us we had to throw everything away. IIRC someone back then figured out an easy way to make money by sueing some corporation that attempted to do some community good service (not to mention a good tax writeoff :lol:

Not this time. We were staying in a posh hotel and knowing Billy he would have shown me up somehow. So I left my sister in charge of him.
He still showed me up because he rolled in a cow pat and then jumped into my brother in laws car. :lol:
