Beer...

Postby Jimiboy » 26 Mar 2008 12:39

The head of beer manufactures Carlsberg, Heineken, Norrlands guld and Budweiser was on a golf trip in Sweden.
When they where done with the golf they sat down in the restaurant and ordered food. The waitress asked what they would like to drink with the food?
-I have a Carlsberg, probably the best beer in the world, the director of Carlsberg answered.
The director of Heineken did not agree, he ordered a Heineken, wich in his oppinion is the best beer.
-I have a Budweiser, because if it is the best beer in USA, it is the best beer overhere too, the boss of Budweiser sad.
-I have a Coke, the boss of Norrlands Guld replied calm.
Everybody elsee looked at him very confused an asked him why he did'nt order a Norrlands Guld with the food?
-If you are not going to drink beer to the food, i am not either...

Never having been to Sweden I had to look that one up. :s008:

From Wikipedia,

Norrlands Guld (Gold of Norrland) is a Swedish lager beer introduced in 1965 by Sollefteå Bryggeri. It is now brewed by Spendrups as of 1989.

It is known for its long running ad campaign which feature a stereotyped view of Norrland. The principal character is Ingemar, a very laid back man who lives a simple life with his buddies.

The central message is that people from Norrland (who naturally drink Norrlands Guld) are generally more laid back and free from pretension. The Catchphrase "Varför inte vara dig själv för en stund?" (Why not be yourself for a moment?) reflects this.

And by
I have a Coce, the boss of Norrlands Guld replied.
I guess you mean Coke?

Must be Swedish humor eh? :wink2:

Ed, the Norrlands Guld is a swedish beer  It was a fun joke i've got on my mail and tried to translate to pick you guys oppinions up.. 8) (the boss of Norrlands Guld did not think that no other beer IS a beer at all---- :ashamed: maybe it is more suitable to us guys in northern sweden after all..
Funny to see what you all favour, i like several sorts of beer, but dark as newcastle brown ale is among the best i think... :p:

Budweiser only tastes bad water is my oppinion by the way.. Icecold corona with a slice of lemon is nice a hot summer day!

Agree with rtse4406pack "never drink and drive"

I consider myself a true North American. I'm Canadian, I married an American, and I drink Mexican beer (Corona).

I like Corona and American women also. The light variety though.
Never could get used to the darker, heavier beers. Also they tend to knock you on your arse. It seems people get used to whatever everyone else in their region are drinking. As an example the last time I was down to Mexico, Corona, and Tecate, were the norm.

The annual Newcastle beer festival is starting on the campus where I work today. In fact it is about 100 yards away from me. Very tempting...

That's quite a list of beers there. I wonder if anyone has sampled them all? In one day. :s006:

You get a program guide and tick off each one as you sample. Most people just drink half pints so they can try more and some go to all three days of the event to spread it out a bit.

When I was young I would have something like 4-8 pints at one of these events. Three would have me "Away with the faries" these days with my brain damage and lack of practice. :D
