I dont have one Danny but when I applied for my plates on my Challenger they sent me this. "84s496" Is it a sign from God to build a stroker? I thought so, so thats what my current project is! :s024:

I have SIXPAK for my T/A. Oddly enough, I found five of these plates in a collection in CA, the owner sold them to me about six months later. The Hemi plate was a gift from a pal.

I have one with a black top, but I need one without.

If it is OK and you have a larger version or even a side shot, please email?

Thanks,

I can´t do that because I haven´t got one. Luckily my scanner offered me some help.
(From yet another  book called Muscle Cars.)

Btw; Guess how much one of these plates costs in my home country? I am NOT joking this time: About $800 :!:
Do you think that you will get the plate forever?
No, you just hire it for 10 years and after that you have to return the plate or pay another $800. :s023:

Here in Finland vanity plates cost 1000€ ($1450). No time limits, but if you ever want to move them to another car it's always extra 1000€. You're also limited to 1-3 letters and 1-3 numbers in ABC-123 form, no exceptions except for those freeloader almost-Swedes who habitate Åland and get whatever they want for free (eg. rest of Finland pays it all).

People pay thousands and even tens of thousands of pounds for licence plates in the UK. The ones that have fewer digits are the most sought and fetch big money when auctioned.

how, that is a lot of money for vanity plates. we pay $240. but i here that the taxes arent as bad in finland/sweden or england as they are here in ontario canada at 14%,last year it was 15% and for 2008 as of january it will drop to 13%. so i guess you guys are luckier in that sence of living.

:s012: No way that I would spend such an amount of money on a vanity plate. :disbelief:
(...but it is their choice of course. They do as they want. No problem. :) )

Those prices are insane. Alaska charges $30.00 for the pair, and as long as you keep the registration current no one else can apply for the same digits.

I agree, my plate was 46.00 shipped to my door. (Taxes and registration "fees" included), of course my Dodge was an old junker that was purchased for 100.00 dollars, and thats the taxable amount. I wonder what those guys pay that buy the million dollar Hemi Cuda/Challenger Convertibles? In our state, you would pay dearly for the taxes on that thing yearly!!(6% of total cost annually). Also, just because you want to show it and refrain from driving doesnt get you any free time. They charge for the years you didnt register as well! They think of everything.

I should imagine the guys buying the high $$$ cars are getting historic plates. Here in Missouri they are pretty cheap ($15 additional) and are lifetime plates. There are restrictions on personal mileage per year, outside of "educational" uses (including car shows, displays etc) and a mileage log must be kept. You can also get personalized historic plates but they need to be renewed annually. All told, Missouri has something like near 200 plate variations. We've got hotrod, agricultural, truck, bus etc but no muscle car :s001: But I can use a 1971 plate on our '71 R/T as long as the number doesn't conflict with the current numbering system :s007:

Here's some more information if anyone is interested.

Plates sometimes go for a fortune in Australia too. These ones went recently for $140000 AU (about $125000 US). They frequently go in the tens of thousands. Custom plates sell for $495 and you have those as long as you want them.

'No 1' plate goes for a record in UAE

Without batting an eyelid, a UAE businessman dished out a record 14 million dollars for a car licence plate at an charity auction in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday.

"It is not huge compared to my family's fortune," Saeed Abdel Ghaffar Khouri said after bidding 52.2 million dirhams (14.2 million dollars) for an Abu Dhabi licence plate bearing the single number "1".

"The price is fair. After all, who among us does not want to be number one," Khouri told AFP.

Emirates Auction which organised the sale said on its website that it had been expected to set a new world record for the most expensive car licence plate in the world.

In May another citizen of the oil-rich UAE spent more than five million dollars to buy a licence plate bearing the number "5".

Funds from the auction at an Abu Dhabi luxury hotel will be given to charities, including one that will set up a hospital for casualties from road accidents.

Buyers battled it out on Saturday for 90 low digit licence plates, spending a total of 89 million dirhams (about 24 million dollars), said Abdullah al-Mannaei of Emirates Auction.

A1 was the first and most sought after plate in the UK. I only remember it coming up for sale once in my life and it went for a LOT of money.

here is mine on my Challenger... If you can't read it, it is UDLOSE. I have owned it since 1988 and no one will ever own it as long as I am alive in the State of GA...
