It is with regret that I feel I must make this post. I am not going to mention any names. I suggested a parts supplier to a member of this board and now the member is experiencing a problem recieving his part.In the post the suggestion was made to use Pentastar Parts. Apparently there are two suppliers that sound similar. Pentastar Reproductions and Penstar Parts. One is located in Australia, the other in Pennsylvania. I informed the member that I had used inline tube but not Penstar Parts. He used the one I didnt do any business with and currently has a "problem". I being a Team Player and feel we are all "brothers" decided to assist him by e-mailing said businesses in support of my friend. No vindictive or childlike language was ever used to anyone in question. This was done professionally. I may kid around alot but my old job I retired from was well, dangerous and required the use of professionalism and attention to detail. But most importantly, I was trained to live by the motto"individuals Die, TEAMS SURVIVE". There fore if you become my friend I will do almost anything to help you including self-sacrifice. I dont know any otherway. My loyalty is similar to our canine friends. In the enviornment I used to work in a dissimilar attitude could easily cost you your life. Back to the problem, I guess I could retract and say "dont use PentastarParts" but this is wrong because I/WE dont know all the little details, how long, how much ect..(none of my business). I guess I am trying to say, I wanted to help my friend and now it's come to him being upset at me. I am sorry for recommending a solution to a problem. This is made me "gunshy" of helping people on this board. :frown: Edward Nasser "Eddie"

Eddie in life we can only show a person the road we cant make them walk it, much like bringing a horse to water and he will decide if he wants to drink, there has obviously been some crossed wires mate dont beat yourself up about it,the way I see it I doubt anybody has been hurt physically, if they took a hit financially (which to be honest most of us have online) then they neeed to try their best to rectify learn from it and move on.

I certainly will be seeking your advice and input on this board and just because somebody is a bit sore over a couple of buck aint going to change that, if the gaffer thought for one minute that you were of no benifit and your post were no sensical etc then he would have cut your virtual fuel and brakelines long ago!!!!

How much of a hit was it anyway not that it matters too much I mean Im sure there are various avenues to go down in order to get it back?

I didn't want this to get to the forum that's why I have been talking with Eddie in private messages.

Yes I used a supplier you recommended (Penstar Reproductions) and may get burned. It's still early though so who knows.

As for Eddie you have been very helpful in trying to resolve this matter and I appreciate that very much. I learned a while back when I recommended Jim's Auto Parts then later had to retract my statement to be careful about this kinda thing.

I suggested that you retract your recommendations as another member here may end up having a similar problem and that is what appears you have done with this topic.

You are a team player indeed. :)

Jesus guys. Talk about mountains out of molehills.

I see the problem. In your original post Eddie you might have meant to post a link to Pentastar Parts but you actually have posted a link to Pentastar Reproductions by mistake.

Jon, have you inquired at www.penstar.bizland.com also www.finelinesinc.com

However you made NO recommendations in that post. It was just a link to two possible sources for the part Jon needed.

Later on after Jon asked Eddie if he had used either company and Eddie said;

Jon, I have used fine lines. As a matter of fact I used the complete Stainless lines for both fuel and brake, good stuff. They can also make custom assemblies for your application if one isnt listed. E-mail them or call and let us know what happens. The prices were reasonable as well, and they have excellent customer service, I had to return one section. U.P.S. or someone crushed a portion, but they returned it /and sent a new one no problem

Then Craig said;
Go with Fine Lines or Inline Tube. You can't go wrong

So in fact there was never ANY recommendation to use Pentastar Parts or Pentastar Reproductions.

Now. I am going to edit out that link to Pentastar whatever. So no one uses that link.

Jon.
I don't know what the problem is that you are having with your order. I am not even sure which of the two companies you ordered from.

A company does not normally stay in business by ripping other people off.
I strongly suggest you find out what has happened to your order. If they have received the order and not sent the part out let me know and we can post a warning about this company on the message board.

But until I know the facts I cannot brand a company with a bad name.

Lot's a love in that paint job. Probably 300 hours. The color is from the 1989 Audi's. Drove to every car lot around to find the right one. The quality probably also sold me. Great car's them Audi's.

The more I think about it may have been a Volvo color but 89 I'm sure. :s006:

Thanks for the compliment fal308. It's in lacquer, pretty easy to work with and fix mistakes. They don't sell it anymore in Ca. but heard Nevada still does. I am about out so maybe next year when in Reno I'll try to line some up.

Ah!. Now then. To me it looks very like a colour that Volvo used in the 1960s. They may well have used it more recently as well.

Kean eye there Dave. That's why I had to come clean. I'll look for a old Volvo web site tomorrow. Probably need a paint number or something in case it can be remixed in lacquer anyways.

Has anyone heard of this computerized color recognition program they have now a days? You bring in a color sample and supposedly they can scan it and match it?

Jon
Try www.autocolorlibrary.com It may take a couple minutes of searching but if you know what car the color was from originally you should be able to nail it pretty quick. Just click through the probable years. It will make more sense when you go to the site.
BTW I found several that seem close.

Thanks Jon! You're car is gorgeous and I would be very proud to own it. Back in the day, most of the faster cars were big blocks sure cubic inches and all that stuff. For the most part it's true. We had a duster in town that NO ONE could touch. He sent the engine to Jimmy's Motor Block in Indianapolis and his Dad sent the company a purported "blankCheck". A few months later my friends and I,(we hung out almost every night on the main street drag and waited for the muscle cars and "victims" to come out and play), saw that Blue Dodge rumble down the street. he lined up against a SS 454. The Chevy didnt have a chance, he was out of the hole and in three seconds it was over. the Chev went off and left. The duster ran a W-2 340 with 12.5 pistons and Mushroom cam, it would barley idle, he wrecked it a year later and was almost killed in it. But it was the fastest car around for a while.

Cool site fal308. I'm pretty sure it would be the Red Pearlescent, but Wine Red looks close too. When I get a minute I'm time going to look up my original metallic brown too.

Must have been nice to have a black check at the engine builders. Can be dangerous as you mentioned. Too bad he wrecked that car. Was the engine salvageable?

Jon, I dont remember what happened to the engine. The car was 'unrecognizable' however and he was ejected from it. He was very fortunate. Many of my high school buds were killed in cars and on bikes in my senior year. 7 total! Alcohol was a major factor in most of those wrecks BTW, hey it was the mid 70's and cars, bikes, chicks and booze were ALL we did! :wink2:

I didnt need anything else Fal. I had this RoadRunner, pictured here for sale,(1800.00), and I dated a gymnast! Life at that point in time was good for Eddie! Dig the farout N-50-15's mounted on CenterLine Wheels which I think were just released in the solid design. They made the car slower. If you look close you can see my bodywork behind the front fender wheel well, it's a slightly different shade. I drove that car during the winter of 77-78. Remember that winter? :hmmm:

Yeah that model had "shag" carpeting and the "woody" option! It was an automatic tranny car with steering column selector, so the driver had the only stick! That car was totaled by the next owner after me. Indiana people,(Hoosiers), are hard on cars. :s024:

Always wanted those centerlines but couldn't afford them. That was the rim back then.

My buddy had a built 1969 302ci Z-28 Camero, sporting Micky Thompson M-50's on the rear. They had to be 16" wide.

He still managed to spin it out into a neighbors front yard though. :s006:

We only had three choices I think. It was a long time ago. Keystone classics,Cragar SS, Centerline solids. I never saw any cars with the "revered" torque thrusts/Ansen slots or sprints either unless it was a race car. Of course our performance parts shop in town was about 4 feet of a 3 row isle. You could fit all the performance parts they offered on your kitchen table. My neigbor down the street had a slingshot rail with a Hemi in it. Another had a SuperStock 65 Coronet also with a Hemi. Oh I forgot, that pic was circa 1978/79 I had just bought a 6 month used Plymouth Duster with a /6. Insurance was way too much for the Runner so I sold it to a high school kid who totaled it drag racing in the countryside. He rolled it many times at high speed into a ditch after consuming too many ales,(little Kings remember those green bottles 7 oz.), fistfull of dynomite!

Yep, Fal, Little Kings, Boones Farm Cheap Wine, Mad Dog 20/20, Wild Irish Rose Wine, Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer and Falls City Beer. All rotgut trash! But got the job done! Especially assisting young females to hopefully lose their morales and values that particular evening!(It however usually ended with me making love to a porcelain Goddess)!
