A high wall with a castle every mile built right across the country in just 8 years with nothing but hand tools......

I believe the romans used knettles and stingers to wack themselves across the legs to heat up their bodies during the winter months.

I imagine factors such as very cold weather, very rough terrain, crazy natives and of course being sick of listening to the proclaimers night after night halted the roman invasion of the north of the island!!

I,m a history buff. I could spend weeks around that ruins and be content reading about it at the Library as well. It would be fascinating! I especially enjoy old English,Scottish,Irish castles and any fortified old building structures. Are you dudes allowed to research,(non-violently), those historic areas? That wall for instance?

Of course. Plus there are always digs going on. They are always pleased to talk to anyone interested.

You used to be allowed to walk on Hadrian's Wall. But it has been getting so popular it is causing wear and tear so now you are only allowed to walk alongside it as in the photo I posted above. But you can follow the whole 84 mile route of it if you want.

There are several large forts and settlements along the wall. Plus museum's full of the stuff they find. Not just pots. Clothing food and even letters have been found. Including complaints about lack of supplies and living conditions! Even a birthday invite.

There are still many areas waiting to be excavated. You can see the shapes of streets and houses under the grass.

Yes, I knew that. I am going to have to wrestle Billy for his bed. I'm pretty sure Billy would win, but who knows, he may end up tagging along with us. He is a rescue hound! :s004: Do the English still use 'outhouses'? I can stay outside of one,(downwind of course). :|
