Hey Red are we that sad that we sit around on a Friday night and dream of acquiring Eddies car while he is still sucking air. :P It is pouring rain here and killing me that I can not cruise in the ragtop. Did you figure out your starting problem. I hope you tried daves suggestion first. It is always best to start with the cheap and simple things first. I am not saying that Dave is cheap and simple, just his idea of checking electrical connections is. Well I have trampled on Eddies thread enough so T.T.F.N.

Yeah I am going to try Dave idea first but I do need new valve covers, gaskets for valve covers, oil pan and exhaust manifold...I dont want to fire up the engine without them...So I figured if Im gonna get these parts I might aswell get the others at the same time...it will save me on shipping...just in case its not just a wiring issue.

I was making sure all off my connections were ok and on of the bolts sheared off on the starter..had to take it apart to fix it..I need to solder a connection on to a new bolt inside the starter....

Hey Red. You missed an outstanding weekend at Santa Pod.

Shame the threat of mud and rain put the wimps off from either bringing their cars or turning up at all.

But if they had believed the Met Office reports, instead of looking out of their windows on Thursday and deciding it must be wet everywhere else, then it would have been even better.

I actually got quite a good sun tan despite factor 25 sun cream. :s009:

Still. It is, and always will be, the best, most fun, weekend of the year. :D :lol2:

Red Raven: Here is an interesting article written a few years ago,(6), and was done at the Mopar Nats in Columbus Ohio, USA. The magazine MoPar Muscle had a fellow that "donated" his car for a dyno session then they tore his motor down to the shortblock and added some nice aftermarket parts, Presto, they Doubled the output!!!Very impressive and the best part? This thing would run on any fuel in the world 87 Octane is all it needs! It had pistons .080 in the hole. Without getting to technical, it doesnt make hardley any compression! probably 8:1 and thats with aluminum heads. It run's on Coleman lantern fuel  and still makes good power. Check it out and, ugh, sorry for the length

It is easy and fairly cheap to go from around 200hp to 300hp.

Harder and more expensive to go from 300 to 400.

400 to 500 is getting pricey and needs a lot of new parts. Not just in the engine.

500 to 600 it is getting serious. Big and expensive modifications.

600 plus. You had better have your own company, good contacts in the hobby, and be on a very good income.
