BTW, disregard the camera date. I'm just lazy. After lunch,(steak), we were asked to report to the Museum. The track has two,(2), museums, one open to the Public and another that the Hulman Family has in the basement. We were allowed into the basement but NO pics are allowed in that area.
There were approx. 80 cars in the basement. Each had an important historical significance, not necessarily related to the INDY 500, some where though, like the very first Indy winner, Ray Harroun,(Lebanese), won in 1911. He was an engineer. He developed a unique strategy, drivers were allowed a co-pilot at that time. Ray said he didnt need one and mounted a mirror above the canopy which allowed him to see anyone behind him. This device is used in all automobiles today. The rear view mirror! Neat. He "shed" 150-200 lbs. genius!
