Just in case you did not know....

A lot of the cars you have listed as coupes are actually hardtops, only the A93 cars were considered coupes.

gday barry just a little question as to the definition of a coupe according to the vin decoder the 23 code is a hardtop however the se which is a 29 code is a sports coupe & the only difference seems to be the back window ,also on another post i have read the claim was that they are all hasrdtops if the rear side windows wind down i.e. coupes have fixed rear side glass so i am unsure as to what is a genuine coupe

Hello JJ. Nice job on the registery. Interesting pace car list. I sold my pace car in 1982 to buy my current Conv. I still have a picture of it when I brought it home in 1981. I believe it resides in New hampshire and is owned by a guy named Gene.

I agree with Barry that only the A93 (Challenger Deputy) cars are coupes.

I haven't looked at the site yet but will be right on it after this break.....

Barry, you are right with the Coupe and the Hardtop thing. That's the way Chrysler had it in the old brochures and the dealer sales folders as well.

I made the experience that people usually say that they own a Coupe or a Convertible. When they say Coupe, they always (or 99%) mean the Two-Door Hardtop. In Europe for example, owners always say that they have a Coupe, I never heard of someone saying he has a Hardtop. The word Coupe is more common there and used with other car-brands, too. The word Hardtop is used in Europe to describe a Removable Hard-Top, for example the one used in the Mercedes SL (W107 series).

So I thought Coupe makes is easier for all owners around the world.

Bob, do you remember the VIN # of your Pace-Car ?

I have always thought that the US definition of a Hard Top is a car without a pillar between the front side window and the rear side window. Both side windows must also be possible to open. Any comments on that?

The Swedish authorities call my car a Coupe.

I puzzled now. What is the difference between a Challenger Coupe and a Challenger hardtop and can anyone give me examples???

Hardtops have rear side windows that roll down, coupe rear windows do not, that is it in a nutshell.

I agree that generally the US uses this terminolgy while several other countries do not.

Please change my cars listing to hardtop though? No T/A coupes were made.
