Reference resto topic

It feels like many of us are intrested in how the cars were built and how they originally looked like. I thought I would start a reference resto topic to cure our hunger for information.

Thanks Christer, correct info is always welcome! I wish I had a pic of the master cylinder cover. Mine is "symmetrical" and doesnt look right for a disc brake cover, had "issues" with the supplier and didnt want to wait any longer for the car, he claimed it was correct for a 1970 Disc/drum combo, but I dont remember seeing a style such as what I have on cars of the era except for drum brakes.

I am no expert when it comes to master cylinder covers. I know that my drum/drum Challenger once had a symmetrical cover with a bolt in the middle. That is about it. (A long time ago, I did a stupid thing and threw the cover away. I regret all the Challenger things I have trewn away. :worry: )

Picking on Challengers is really not my favourite topic, but.....

Isn´t the gap between the right front fender and the door very large?
Isn´t the left door hanging? It looks as if the left door is not very well matched against the left rear fender?

Just a couple of observations. Not any news I guess? We all know that Challengers have some drawbacks, right?

The build quality was not good on these cars. But things like that are easily fixed.

The important thing is to get the doors right with the sills, rear quarter and glass weather strip (glass is adjustable too).

Then once you are happy with the fit of the doors you fit the fenders to match the doors.

We don't love these cars for their build quality. Otherwise we would all be driving Toyotas and BMWs. God forbid.

I ask myself if this article is obsolete or not? It is from Mopar Action, december 1993. Take it for what it is.

May be an old article but Roger Gibson is one supposed to be one of the best Mopar restorers around. His shop is north of Kansas City and has a very good international reputation for Mopars.
