Hi

I am going to go through my engine compartment on my '74 Challenger and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on the best place to purchase such items as brake lines, hoses, master cylinder, battery tray, tranny lines, starter, voltage reg (and other firewall items), decals, etc. I have been looking at Year One, Paddock, Jim's, Herbs, Jacks -- etc. There are a lot of folks out there.... does anyone have any experiences with any that they would share? As to price, service, quality -- do any stand out? All comments/suggestions welcome! Thanks

Year One stand out for overall sevice and quality. But they are also the most expensive.

I used Year one and the Paddock but I also used Mancini Racing a lot. Also for the items that HAD to be correct, I used Frank Badalson/Roger Gibson. Tonys parts had a few items but were VERY used. Totally Auto was expensive and I had to send the plated items to another place since they used PAINT!! I heard Jims auto parts and Dantes are very good as well as R/T specialties. What I did was order a couple items first. If not satisfied you wont be burned that bad.

My experience after three cars.....
Hardware.... R/T Specialties has all the correct stuff at fair prices. Brake, fuel and transmission lines..... Fine Lines.
Interior and vinyl tops...... Legendary.
Radio antennas and reproduction trim....... Metro Parts in Florida.
Sheet metal...... go to Goodmark's website and buy it from the nearest dealer - save the markup and shipping.
Exhaust...... TTI - their stuff really does bolt right in.
Other stuff..... Paddock and Year One.
OEM....... Tony at Tony's Parts has a very high opinion of his stuff and the parts are way over-priced for the usual hammered condition.

Stay away from Jim's Auto Parts. You can buy much of the same at your local dealer. I heard Mopar Performance does not allow returns/refunds though. There is a thread somewhere in the forum of members experiences with Jim's girls.

The ebay seller "eparts4cars" (P.G Classic Store) have a sort of sale at ebay right now. They have a $0.99 starting bid on many items. These auctions ends within 6-9 hours from now, so you better hurry up. I am not saying that the items will be cheap but there is a chance to save a couple of $$$.

You might be surprised what your local dealer may have. My battery tray was looking a little worse for wear (not bad, but it bugged me), so I was prepared to spend $40 or so U.S. for it from Year One or someone like that. Guess what? The local dealer had it for $30.00 Canadian. While there, I also bought a rad cap, rad hoses, heater hoses and someother items. I also needed a choke pull off diaphragm and they got one for me.
For exhaust stuff, it depends what you want. Accurate exhaust in Oregon has the stock stuff as well as the more exotic items. If you need exhaust tips, let me know, and I can put you in touch with a mopar fanatic that makes tips, and a wide range of other stuff out of stainless steel. You should see the stainless exhaust system for the TA he makes. His stuff is not inexpensive (read off shore JUNK), but if you have pride in your ride, the difference between the cheap stuff and the good stuff isn't really all that much.
Magazines we mopar nuts need to have are Mopar Collectors Guide, Mopar Action and Mopar Muscle. All three are just a wealth of information.
