The Dodge Challenger Message Board

Is there anyone else who thinks that this is a nice collectible? I know that I have posted a couple of pic´s of it before but I can´t find them right now. Is it a costly item? $200+ isn´t exactly what you can call cheap.

Btw; Does anyone know how it works? Do you change gear in a similar way as you do in a real car, for instance?

This is a 1969 Plymouth drag race slot car set. This is the Shutdown race set that was sold through Plymouth dealerships in 1969. This set comes with the control base with 2 4-speed shifters,energizer,drag strip,and 1 1969 GTX and 1 1969 Road Runner. These drag strips have markers on the track that indicate when you shift to the next gear.If you miss a shift,you lose the race.They also have a reverse gear for driving the car back to the start of the track. Was sold through Sears.

Very cool. Would love to have the Challenger set. A guy that I work with has said that when he bought his Challenger new that he received a set. I have never seen a set in person. Now I know that he is not totally crazy.

Very cool dude, where on earth did you get those? Looks like somebody forgot they were stashed away at a C/P/D dealership. Those are worth big bucks to the right guy, see SJ.

Hi Christer! Did you get the Challenger one on e-bay? I remember seeing one there a while ago, with the orange car a little broken. I had never seen it before and thought about bidding too, but changed my mind. The closet is getting full of weird, cool things ("pure trash" if you ask my wife...).

Me too. Not long time ago I was bidding on a set but I can´t justify to spend all that kind of money right now. My Chally-project needs them more.

Btw; Can you believe this: I looked at the winners feedback and the lucky ba**ard has bought THREE sets during the last three months!!!!!! Since all of the sets are incomplete or damaged, I suspect that he is trying to collect spare parts so that he gets one or two complete sets.

I have got the pic´s from ebay. Three Dodge sets have been bought by the same buyer. He has paid $200-$290 for each of the sets. None of them has been in mint condition, they have been partly damaged or missing parts and so on. The Plymouth set sold for $76.

Never had anything, that cool. I was into AFX slot car's. The kid's saw my old set's downstair's, and wanted me to set it up. The car's were more like 1/64th scale. I set up the whole track inthusiastic, like my eight year old, inner self. I got the car's out, ready to race.
All the frickin' tire's have rotted off... On every car. Neadless, to say. They did great burnoff's. Just didn't go anywhere.
