Challenger Registry

Postby JJ » 03 Dec 2006 12:59

A few weeks ago, I thought we all need a registry for all Challengers (70-74). An online version would be nice, with lots of features. I would like to see how many cars are in Sweden or in Australia. I want to know if there is exactly a car like mine out there. How many cars have an original sunroof and where are they located ? Many cars do not have the original engine, maybe the missing numbers matching engine is now in another registered car ? And the list goes on...

Please check it out. I hope you all like it.

Regards, Jens (JJ)

Whom is standing behind this page???
Whom will have access to what info from the registry?
How will the information be handled?

Sorry to put questions like this, but I can´t see any answers and what advantage will each owner get.

I have all? Challenger that is or has been i Sweden on a registry but due to the integrity of each owner I don´t supply any information without the owners approval.

I can answer that one for you.

Jens is a long time member of this board (off and on) and owns what is probably the finest un-restored export spec Challenger in existence.

Barry Washington (AlaskanT/A) has a similar website but is not quite the same as this one.

Thanks to everybody for your registration and support, I appreciate it. I did receive many very interesting cars for the registry already. I hope we reach the 500th registered Challenger soon.

fbernard, no I did not post it on moparts or any other forum. I am just a member on this forum and posted only here. Please feel free to spread the word or post about it on other forums, thanks.

PeO, there is a sample registration on the information page.
http://www.challenger-registry.com/info.html
This is exactly the information that will be published.
The owners name, address and city (optional anyway) or email will NOT be published. All the personal information is for my eyes only, nobody else has access to it. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

It would be interesting if your web site allows anonymous statistics (how many Challengers in France, how many R/T SEs in Europe, etc..)

Also, looking up a VIN and contacting the owner (through you if the owner allows it) would be cool.

I'd like to be able to include fender tag & build sheet info too (optional, some people think this is too personal).

I'll post about it on moparts right away.

fbernard, yes, the registry will show how many cars are in France. Each country will be listed. I can add your fender tag to the registry if you like.

Thanks Jens (JJ)

I added mine too, but the site froze up after I hit the submit button.

A couple suggestions if I may?

You have convertibles and coupes listed, but not hardtops. The coupes are the 1970 and 1971 models with fixed rear windows, (A93 package) so you should add hardtops.

You also have a section for painted tops, but not two tone cars (V02) . Maybe add top painted body color and top painted (insert color) ?

I saw the Moparts post too, registries are not here to compete with one another, I have worked with several registries in the past and continue to do so. If possible maybe that line can be edited out of the post? It is misleading, at least to me. People have asked me what I did to tick the guy off that posted it since my name is mentioned, if I did, I have no clue what prompted it.

Thanks,
Barry Washington

Hi Barry, I posted on Moparts.
I'm not angry in any way, I was just referring to the fact that you already have a lot of work done on the subject (although only on 1970 cars at the moment), and some people on moparts could have beleived this new site was trying to compete with yours.
That was certainly not neant to be hostile, as I really appreciate the work you do for all of us.

I jsut edited the moparts post.

Hey FB,
Thanks, the way it was worded made some folks wonder what was up, glad you are not mad at me.

There is another Registry for the 1970 LA built cars as well, which includes Challengers. It can be found at www.lamopar.com

Is there a way to an "express entry" for the new registry? The more places the found items that I have here are listed, the better chances of the owners finding them. All the Challenger stuff I have is listed in the VIN section here if there is a way to copy and paste the info into the new registry?

T/Ake care,
Barry

Hey Barry, Would it be possible to have the same VIN # on 2 different cars but one built at Hamtramack and one built at L.A. Such as a JH23G0B123456 and JH23G0E123456?

In theory the same six-digit series number could appear on identical cars from two different plants, but the odds against that happening are astronomical. The VIN's would be different because of the plant code, however. Also, we are straying from the thread here....... I did register my R/T SE on the Challenger Registry.

Yes, each plant started at 100001, so it is very possible. Chris at the 1969 Charger Registry had it happen not long ago, one car was from St. Loius and the other from Hamtramck. The VINs were identical except for the plant code.

Barry, could you resubmit your car again ? There was a server-problem today and the webhost just fixed it.

If there is someone else that registered and the site froze after clicking the submit button, please register again. Thanks.

Best regards, Jens

Postby JJ » 23 Dec 2006 14:12

I did put the Feature Car for January '07 on my website. Please check it out, it is a very fine car and we all would love to have that one under the Christmas-tree..... The cars owner is a board member here of course.
