if the trans is bolted to the 440 and it is an auto it can only be a 727.
Hello Group,
My 72 Challenger came with the tranmission panel, (where the ID number should be) blank. It is just a smooth panel with no numbers on it. I have been told this could be a warrenty replacment trans. Is this possible? I'm pretty sure its a 904 as the car has a 318. Any ideas? Thanks.
Look at the link I posted above guys, it has a picture in it that tells you how to id the tranny type by looking up at it and looking at the shape of the pan area.
According the gurus at Mopar Action a 904 was never built that bolted up to a big block.
