Maldon Mud Race

Every year after Christmas, we have a local fund raising event where people take part in a race across the river Blackwater at low-tide. If you are at the front it's not so bad and the race can be completed in around 5 minutes, but as the mud gets churned up people start to get stuck and it's real fun to watch! Some people were still stuck an hour after the finish! What a great way to spend the day. 0 degrees with a biting wind, up to your neck in stinking mud and then an ice cold shower!

:hmmm:

It reminds me of a similar event here in Sweden called "Novemberkåsan". The only difference is that a motorcycle is required. It is a yearly held race late in the autumn (November). The first stage is two laps on a 60 trail. Then, after a restart you drive the 60 km trail again, but this time it is three laps AND AT NIGHT!!!! That sums up to 300km on VERY rough "roads". I am sure it will give your muscles what they deserve. The funny thing is that I would lik to compete myself. Am I as :hmmm: as they are? :? :D
