I would guess it is a 1940s machine. Possible it is ex-WW2 army? Looks a bit like the 1945 one I had for a very short time when I was a teenager before I got my AJS. There might be some numbers stamped at the base of the cylinder head that may give a clue to the year.
My mate Trev is a bike mechanic. He will probably know what it is.
