Need help with brake light question

Postby roadrunner » 21 Aug 2005 2:36

Several months back I replaced the brake light switch near the break pedal and everything was fine. Today I replaced the tail light bezels (sp?) and now I have no brake lights. Normal lights, yes, turn signals, yes. but no brake lights!!

What in the sam hill is going on!!

I will take any thoughts, 2 cents, or a simple guess!! All I did was change the tail light bezels (i.e., things around the tail light lenses) and now I have no brake lights.

What madness!!!

Check to make sure all grounds have been reattached...also check to make sure tail light bulb socket is secure in housing. Just a thought

Make sure you didn't happen to break the element for the brake light ethier.

Never mind missed that part that you had turn signals.

I talked to a guy who knows Mopars very well. He told me this is common with Mopars and to replace the turn signal switch unit (guess I will call it that) in the stearing column. I thought he was nuts because the turn signals worked. However, he was dead on correct!! I replaced it this morning and life is good again. This is one spot I would have NEVER looked.

I still don't know why this happened when I replaced the tail light bezels. Must have been an event stranger than fiction.

Hope this helps others....... :D
