First time out...
Posted: 19 Jul 2005 18:28
Hi Guys, as some may remember my real first time out with the new setup was not what I hoped of it. Damaged the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and 3th gear without making one run... So up to Denmark we went (thanks again Trillebille) to get a 727 built to handle the power and put it in asap.
We had it in right before a car show which should have been the test drive with a good working car. Still running to hot so we parked it half way there. The **** thing was still running hot, even after some mods... Final thing we could think of was a radiator. So I got one from a buddy over here to use to see if it helped any. Took mine out, his in. As soon as I took his I was wondering why mine was so much heavier? Shake it to find out there's still water in it...huh... Watched inside mine to found out there's all kind of (news)paper in it... I did took it out clean half a year ago but now... Looks like some mice build a crip in it...
Anyway, with my buddy's radiator it workes fine! Watertemp 170*, Oil temp 180*, Tranny temp 170*, Oil pressure 40@idle 80@3500rpm, Fuel pressure 8psi at all rpm's. All looking good right?
So there we went to the strip to run it for the next 'first time out' (first time super street car class too, 10.900 index) came there on thursday to stay over till sunday.
Qualification on friday / saterday and the eliminations on sunday.
Qualifications
Thanks to our Dr. Performance over here I was capable of running a good run right of the trailer. Withouth having actually driven the car so far he was able to setup the finetuning so that we could run up to the finals withouth adjusting anything but tire pressure and shifting points! Thanks mate!
1st run off the trailer was a 11.246 @ 123.0mph
2nd run was a 11.120 @ 123.6
3th run was a 11.043 @ 125.3
4th run was a 11.066 @ 124.8
5th run was a 10.930 @ 125.9
6th run was a 11.030 @ 126.1
7th run was a 10.914 @ 126.4
8th run was a 10.961 @ 125.3
Eliminations:
1st round was a 10.984 @ 122.8 (on the brakes) vs a 10.824
2nd round was a 10.946 @ 125.8 vs 10.833
3nd round was a bye
Then in the final I lost with a total diff of 0.04sec.
All in all a great weekend. The 10.914 made me #1 Qualifyer and off course so far my personal best.
The timeslip of that run was:
0.016 RT
1.648 60ft
6.995 1/8 @ 100.7
10.914 1/4 @ 126.3
So not to bad running a 10.9 with that kind of 60fts right? Now it's time for a real converter Launching at 2400rpm is not enough. Better try my buddy's 8" converter then.
Sorry if this was too long of a thread, but had to share my happiness with the results of the new setup...
