1971 Challenger Production information booklet

Postby rapidtransit » 23 May 2005 20:26

If there were a 1971 Challenger information Booklet out there that told you how many challengers came from the factory with shakers, wings, axle packages, any option that they came with this booklet would tell you how many.
It would cover hardtops,ragtops,and R/T s .

Is there a market for a booklet like this ?????? 15-20 $$$ Range

Anything that a 71 challenger had ,it will include.
Just found a glitch with the factory numbers for the 71 convertible ????
Things just don,t seem to ad up,,I,II have to keep checking and double checking till things ad up,,
I might have to give you a call T/A.
Its time consuming , as I have to change all the factory numbers which are listed in percentages to numbers so it can be user friendly to any 1..

So will let you know the progress as there are probably a 1000 percentages to change.

Will check back later. rapid

Rapid..... I think that the percentage chart I got from Daimler Chrysler for the 1970 model year was compiled before the end of the production run and the production totals did not agree with the actual figures for the model year. You may have the same thing going on. These figures were put together for marketing research to see what was selling and what wasn't.

I agree with Jack. The figures are 'rough' figures at best. There is also no way of working out how many cars came with any two or more combination of options.

Records

Postby rapidtransit » 26 May 2005 0:56

I do have the shipping & accessory records for both 1970 and 1971,They are dated for the end of their model years, Aug 70 and aug 71.
When you check known information out ,and check my records out ,,they are the same. But every now and then you run into a certain model car that seems to have their records combined . I have run into this on the 67 coronet where they combined hardtop and ragtop.
I think I have run into the same problem with the 71 challenger hdtp and the convertible..
The 71 R/T and the coupe numbers all seem to work out perfect.
In some cases I can tell how many 71 challenger R/T s came with a 340 / auto trans and 276 gears...
The last 2 nights I have sat here with a calculator and the shipping reports and finished doing the info conversion for the 71 R/T ,,There is about 85 different pieces of information I about the r/t..

In 1970 there are even more pieces of info as they include car colors/V tops/interior colors. 1970 seems to be more forth coming with the info .

So their you have it , I,II keep checking out the coupe numbers tonight and with any luck will finish them up.

Will let you know next time here. rapid

I will include any info about canadian shipments I know, but I don,t have the breakdowns like the U.S literature I have,,,
I don,t have any production info from europe , so this won,t be possible.

Should I get any before the booklet is complete , I will be sure to add.

This info is 100 % legit , right from mopar. A good soarse if learning about challenger production is important to you.

I don't have any information on that, sorry. My girlfriend's dad is the second owner and is friends with the original owner of a '71 R/T. The car was special ordered with the 383 and a 3 speed (yes, 3 speed). Several other different options and lack thereof (console delete but the dictaphone cassette). Sorry but I can't recall the listing now.
I showed him the 1970 Special Order Price Kit for USA Delivery posted elsewhere on the forum and he was estatic. He was wondering i anyone had the 1971 version.
