Ok--HEMI We know the real definition, That is

Hemi: (HEM -e) adj. Mopar in type, , hot tempered , native to the United States, carnivorous , eats primarily Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes. Also enjoys smoking a good import now and then to relax.
BUT
What does it really stand for?
For most of us it means.....

Perhaps you all knew this but isnt the Hemi called Hemi just for its hemispherical combustion chambers ?

To me the Hemi stands for POWER, it gives me the thrill just to look at those big, black valvecovers and the gigantic heads

In a HEMI engine, the top of the combustion chamber is hemispherical. The combustion area in the head is shaped like half of a sphere. An engine like this is said to have "hemispherical heads." In a HEMI head, the spark plug is normally located at the top of the combustion chamber, and the valves open on opposite sides of the combustion chamber.
