hello all: It been years but I am now finally back to my Mopar roots. I purchased the above car. Made in Los Angeles and lived its live in Las Vegas Very solid......Came Mango Orange with with vinyl top and white stripes......... Car is stripped and will be ready for paint and stripes/vinyl top in time. Would you go back with the original white stripe and white vinyl top or go with black stripe, hood blackout and black vinyl top? Car will have new black interior but came with burnt orange.......Also car came with nonmatching 383HP (1971) Hmm I could go back with this engine or go to a 440......I have the 906 heads. What are you thoughts guys/gals...........New member ...thanks for your input....

I vote Go Mango, white top, white stripes and burnt orange interior. Very cool!

I would choose black stripe, hood blackout and black vinyl top. Why? It´s already a non-numbers matching car and you already have choosen to change the colour of the interior. You don´t spoil a resto car anyway. I get the feeling that you prefer black stripe, hood blackout and black vinyl top!(?) Go for it then! Build it your own way! (I would suggest the opposite, if you plan to sell the car in the close future.)

A 440 is always nice  . Quite obvious, the choise depends much of your personal pedal-to-the-floor preferences. Other considerations are budget and time. Maybe your best bet would be to do it as a winter project (that´s what we call it here in chilly Scandinavia :s026: ) sometime in the future?

Nothing wrong with a 383 except finding high compression pistons is a problem.
If you were more interested in going fast the 440 would be better.

I would go white interior, white top, and white stripw with no hood blackout.

If it had to be a black interior I would go black top and stripe. Maybe the hood blackout.

Don't think you will get a concensus on this board. :D

Welcome,
This is the best board. I,m new since Feb. also and these gals & guys have been GREAT help to me. I've also renewed my interest(ok-MyLove) to own a Challenger. Everyone is eager to help.

You'll also learn reading some of the old posts.

Good luck with your restore.
MY favorite is orange, black stripe, blackout hood, black top,(I actually have a diecast model of just that) unless your worried about the purist, but your already nonmatch on the engine so do what YOU think looks good. Like the 440 also. Good Luck--Need Some pictures though.

I've got allmost the same switch. 70 rt/se bright blue metalic came with a non-matching 383, also I think it had a white top. I'm going black top, black hood black out and throwing in a 440. I'm keeping the inside all bright blue.

Go-mango with gold pearl / Black interior/ Black vinyl top / 18x9 cragars rear and 17X7 in the front / stroked 400 nitrous motor / pistol grip / pop-top fuel cap / no stripes just badging on the side / wheel lip moldings / no spoilers / no blackout hood treatment.....basically a car that is orange on the bottom, black on the top and inside, and chrome all around it.........This is the recipe for my car and when its complete it should have everything except the stroker motor. BTW, my car is a R/T SE too
