Don't know if this counts but when we had the Lord Of The Rings premier down here Peter Jackson was riding in a 1970/71 Red Cuda convertible 8) He has good taste, was in front of 100,000 people who lined Wellington streets. :D Hope King Kong is good..............

Just rented the movie "Radio" which Barry referred to earlier. Nice looking R/T convertible. Wish it was shot during the day. Patrick

Told you I was colour blind! 8)

Reds always look very dark and poor to me. Thank God for Hemi Orange! :P

other than a nice car to look at, is the movie natural born killers anygood?

Err. Depends how you like your movies.

It is a bit surreal to say the least. Very clever from a cinematic point of view. Both in art direction and technical cinematography.

I think the story is loosely based on the film 'Badlands' that starred a young Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek? Badlands itself was based on a true story that happened in the late 1950s.

So I guess if you would like a violent mixture of Badlands and Twin Peaks this film is for you?

What I want to know is what has she got between her legs in that photo above?

I was thinking that, and after closer inspection it looks like a brown coyboy hat, the part closer to the "jewels" is the top and the part just to the left thats hard to make out is the rim. :D

I do know you can use a 'cap' for contraception but does she really need a 10 gallon hat?

Well I am colour blind anyway as I said but the different images above do look very different colours even to me.

At night on roads lit by sodium street lights I cannot see red traffic lights! Not unless I am close up and paying attention anyway. The two colours are just too similar to me.

well the movie is good if you like Quentin Tarantino style movie. It's only his story but you can surely feel his touch. I felt it before I saw his name in titles. This film is very crazy but i think its pretty good. There should have been more Challenger clips though :(

And Dave....don't worry about those red lights - no one sees them

I see the blue flashing lights easy enough though!

here's a new one for you, a 1970 chally in a video on Mtv.
here's a link for you to watch the video (brodband a must).
there's several old muscle cars in this video and a burnout at the end.

the band is called yellowcard and the song is 'ocean avenue'

PS: they really suck, well at least ther arn't my cup of tea.

Well spotted!

I quite liked the song myself. 45 year old teenager that I am. (Sad isn't it? )

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet (don't have time to look through all the messages) but there was an ad in the UK two years ago for a sound system: a guy walking along a dusty US/Mexican street, sees a yellow Challenger cruise by with a sound system with a bright display (sound systems interest me about as much as horse poo) and so, fascinated by the look of the radio front, he chases the car, runs through a supermarket etc. and then out the back to find the yellow 1971 Challenger R/T parked up with it's radio front showing all kinds of funny colours. Totally pointless advert that made no sense but unsurprisingly the Top Banana car was the star!

Metallic undid any coolness they may have achieved by using a Challenger when they made the video for 'I Disppear' a couple of years back. It was a song from 'M:I 2' and featured a black series one Camaro tearing up what looked like San Francsico. It didn't look too bad, but would have been much cooler if it was a black Charger, although then it would have been too much of a Bullitt rip-off. Cool song, though.

I think the Natural Born Killers Challenger was a 1970 but now I'm not sure!

The Challenger in 'Too Fast Too Furious Too Crap to Bother Watching at the Cinema' was, for some reason, given to the character played by Paul Walker. One of the ultimate mans cars, paired with a weed like Walker. Hmmmm, casting mismatch, methinks.

Yeah all of us Challenger owners in real life have big arms and hairy chests man! :D

I score well on the hairy bit of that anyway.

by TommyDeVito
Oh, man, you should see me - not hairy and built like a pencil. What I meant really was that Paul Walker is a complete woman and it's just such a shame to see such an arse driving such a cool car!

But hey, more Challenger's being used the better.

More Mopars on TV:-

- 'Comedy Chickflik' "Just Married" has a nice blue/ vinyl roof '70 Challenger in it. A pleasent suprise when you're expecting 2 hours of romantic tat.

- J.C. Chavez pop video, several musclecars poking round in the background. I'm sure I saw a 'B' body in there.

- Angel. 9.00pm on a Tuesday night (Sky 1) in the UK. About every second week they come up with some random storyline to work in an excuse to go down to underground garage and choose a musclecar to pop down to the bloodbank in. There's a '70 Coronet, GTO Judge, SS Camero, SuperBee, who knows what else. Go on, treat yourselves.... :D

I thought a Chickflick was something quite different?

That makes sense now. :?

When you told me the other day you were watching a Chickflick with your wife I thought "Cor. She's a game bird! My wife would kill me if I wanted to watch something like that!"

I understand now I had hold of completely the wrong end of the stick.

Well, Dave I catch guff from my wife all the time...but bad boys will be bad boys! I don't know how many times I've heard..." If one more car shows up here...!" or "What are you watchig that for?" Yes I'm happily married , just not too many days in a row!

PostPosted: 11 May 2004 7:27

I am getting heat from the wife every week night lately because 8pm is our usual dinner time where we eat at the table and talk about the day and all that stuff. :|

But American Chopper the series is on Discovery Channel at 8pm every night! Yeah!

No contest in my mind. So I eat off my knee in front of TV while she stubbornly sits in the dining roon by herself with the table all laid out.

I will have to get dinner started earlier so we are all done before 8pm. That should do the trick.

 Dave, best convert the dining room into a parts store!

Funny enough that is almost exactly what it will be for a couple of months at least while my new garage is being built. Now if the builder would just tell me when he is going to start work I can start to move stuff into my shed and the dining room. Then we will both have to eat in front of the TV. Problem solved! :D

Except I just know she is going to try and talk to me while I am watching Big Paul throw another spanner across the chopper workshop.

Dave said "I thought a Chickflick was something quite different? "

Don't worry mate, I made the same mistake about facials.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. The only opportunities I get for a furtive peak at 'man TV' are when everyone else goes up to bed while I "just switch everything off" (and don't tell me I'm the only one). You know the drill, volume down, channel hop, channel hop, channel hop, listen for a creak on the stairs, channel hop, channel hop, make sure you leave it on an 'approved' channel (UK Shopping works well), switch off, go to bed trying to look innocent.

Trouble is, I'm finding more and more that I come across car related programs and sit watching them instead. I'm so old!
