Was talking to my mother-in-law about this. She knew him and had her Challenger worked on by him. Cotton rebuilt the engine in her Challenger once and worked on a couple other of her family's cars. (All Mopars )
She used to go by the shop on an irregular basis to talk and hang out while getting her car worked on. She said they showed her how to set up a carb and quite a few other tricks!
Back then it was unusual for a gal to be interested in cars in the South. Apparently they enjoyed having her around
