It sure is a beast from the top to the bottom. No question about it. Bad to the bone.

A mate of mine runs an engine very similar to that but making more like 850hp.
You CAN run it on the street but it is a nightmare to keep from stalling, fouling the plugs etc and running to the local cruise and back uses a full fuel cell of fuel.

I have always concidered a Holley 1150 dominator as a race-only-carb. Do you agree with this?

Kind of. But I am not sure enough effort is put into making them run correctly.

I got my mates running a little better just with a couple of tweeks at the side of the road without any tools.
The problem with most tuners setting up on Dyno's is they are only interested in tuning for best power at WOT and as long as it will "idle" as well that will do.
No attempt is made to make sure idle and part throttle in low load and high load conditions are taken care of.

I wouldn't mind having a go at tuning one of these engines and carbs. Just to see what can be done and what can't.

A friend of mine used to drive to and from Santa Pod with a Dominator, and he had pretty good mileage (17 liters per 100 km). That was a well-known green Challenger...

Could of sworn he used to change carbs at the track? Saw him doing it one time I'm sure.
