My New 74 Rallye 360 Four Speed Major Project!

Postby Richardsmv6 » 18 Nov 2010 21:35

Introducing a MAJOR project!!, I have just rescued a 74 Challenger from a garden in Somerset where it has stood for about 10 years partially covered, but unfortunately time and the elements have done their worst!
I remember the car back in the 80's when it was in its prime.....
Anyway some might say its too far gone, but these days thanks to AMD everything is saveable!
As you can see from the broadcast sheet the car is fully loaded, with the 360 engine, 4 speed, 3.55 Suregrip, in fact every option except A/C! Its and export car with a kmh speedo and came to England in 79. I am guessing it was probably ordered by a serviceman stationed in Europe, then came to England but I guess we'll never know? Nobody seems to know how many 4 speed 360 cars were built but I think Its a pretty rare car.
The plan is a full restoration to factory condition, its missing the original 360 and gearbox so if anyone has any 74 360 parts........
The picture above was taken in the early 80's
Comments and opinions welcome, more pics to follow

Great project! Most people modify the 72-74 cars. It's nice to see someone bringing a 74 back to stock specs. You really don't see too many stock 72-74's.
More pics please.

If you have a '72-'74 with a good combination of options and a decent colour scheme, just like your's then, its worth restoring back to stock. That car is going to look sweet, although I would.nt be able to stop myself from putting it on chromed 18"s , that sort of colour will look absolutely stunning on a sunny day 8)
Good luck mate, keep 'em comin'

Was it running a different motor back then? Low 11's for a street car was big news in the early '80s I bet :o
