Been a long while since I had some time off to check the forums and post some updates on what's going on over here...well a lot's going on over here...

Bought a 70 "race-only" Challenger from Dunc Watts from the UK early this year and went on to turn it into how I would like to see it.

Here's how we got it;

After we got it home I finished the resto of the TrailDuster my - at that time- wife drove so as soon it was finished we started disassembling the car. Stripped it down as far as we could go and started all over again. New panels, moved firewall, updated chassis, stripped and painted everything, made new dash, rewired, new front end frame etc. The whole bunch of it.

At the moment I'm waiting for the last needed parts to arrive after that I'll finish it within a couple of weeks. Hope to have it running Jan. 2010. Although the races are later that year I like to have it ready so I can help my buddy with the 70 RR building his new racer too. That thing will be out of the ordinary let me tell you that.

That's it for now...

What are the plans for the car?
What ET are you aiming for? Is that a 4-speed transmission are you going to mate up to that Barton Hemi?

Are you making it street legal? :shock:

I do the best I can Dave. It will probably be a tad heavier the when Dunc ran it but I rather have it a little bit more solid and like the somewhat more stock look in certain areas which takes some extra sheetmetal, brackets etc. On the other hand the Hemi weighs less themn Dunc's wedge I guess.

And yes, it will (still) be a 4-speed again... The last one survived so to be sure I upgraded again. I sold my passon performance 833 and went with a GFroce GF4a this time with an Advanced Clutches built custom dual disc setup. Said to hold up behind his customers 8sec running 1000hp's so will see. For now I just checked the hemi and as it still looked brand new after 5yrs I just dropped it in with only an upgraded oil system. Hope to run lower 9's at the end of the coming season. In theory it should be no problem but time will tell... Chssis will be tagged 8.50 so there's some room left :shock:

If it all stays together during our events over here I'll take it to the Finals in sept. 2010.

How's life at that side of the sea?

So not street legal. I wondered because it looked like you might be fitting working headlights etc.

Hans. I just found this quote from you on Steve Case's tube frame Challenger thread back in 2004;
http://challenger.mpoli.fi/forum/viewto ... 5485#15485

This is the kind of car I still MUST own sometime. Drop in a pumpgas mill and play with the guys reving the 4bangers at the lights! (not that I have to worry about that right now anyway) Must be a blast to ride a thing like that.

We want more pics!! How's the paint actually, on the photo's it looks kind of I don't know how to call this. Wanna swap cars, as a rolling body off course :shock:

Good to hear it's all good Dave!

Oh and I will install working headlights, rearlights, horn etc. As soon as I can get my hands on some paperwork & plates for it I'll will make it streetlegal. But for now it's just a racer. It's kind of hard to get unusual cars roadlegal over here. In that case it's complete oposit to the UK. Guys over here buidling rods will actually sometimes go to the UK to make it legal there and after that it's kind of easy to do it here too. Weird people those making up the rules.

Nice you remembered the quote from back then. I was behind him in the lanes at the '08 Nats. Awesome car too.

Doesn't go fast enough with all those small bits still to do, but I'm getting there...

Updated rear with the lights working (well no blinkers, brakes jet) and installed.

And the gearbox and stuff showed up last week so installed it right away.
Long shifted GForce GF4A behind quicktime sfi bellhousing with Advance Clutched custom setup in it.
