Wheels make the ride. which ones?

I think your car would look cool with ANY wheel! But I vote for the Ralleys!

Don't really like plain steel wheels on these cars.

Except that Chrysler never called them "Magnums". That is what FORD called them.

Chrysler called them "Chrome Road Wheel".

that's interesting, didn't know that. Thought they were Magnum 500's. Here's some on mine. Have been made with big offset and 15". As for the debate - definitely go with the Rallye wheels !! Although in my humble opinion, any of these factory wheels only look their best when they have been widened so that the tyres fill up the wheel wells

I like all three styles but the steel wheels don't look right for some reason. I think it is the color.

The rallye wheels looks really good but you don't see Challengers with the "chrome road wheel" very much. My vote is for the road wheels.

changing wheels is like changing shoes it always makes for a different look,i like the custom look myself

the steel wheels humble the car a little don't they? The Chrome Roadwheels came out as an option on the 71 Challenger. But i am not sure if the 72 -74 had them as an option? You hardly ever see E bodies with them.

yeah, they are old skool goodies alright. 235's those ones. Hope they havn't gone too hard. Got the whole setup from that Luke guy - always on MM. They were off his 68 Charger. NOt sure why i bought them as i wasn't hugely keen on them when i got 'em. ! But once in place they look half decent. Tyres on rera are goodies - 295 Sumito, Directional.

rallye wheels if you want the car to look like all of the other cars (a bit mean, I know )
steel wheels if you want a factory kind of look
magnums if you want rims that match the chrome and the stripes on your car

I vote for the magnums.

My 73 had them from the factory. I've always loved that style wheel. At some point they stopped chroming the outside of the wheel and painted it black. Then they used a trim ring to cover most of the black. That's how my car is. It has the black wheel with a brushed finish trim ring. I know I've seen a 70 Challenger R/T with the 14" painted Magnum 500 style wheels so I think the chrome versions was before 1970. If you look at the last Challenger picture you will notice that it has polished trim rings on it. Those should be the "painted" road wheels.

One car I DO NOT like with the chrome road wheels is the 68-69 Super Bee. Something about those cars doesn't look right to me. I prefer the steel wheels with center cap on those cars.

I know it is not one of your "original" choices but I am a huge fan of the Cragar SS look. But of your 3 I do like the rallyes.

Yes i only like the steel wheel if they have been widened. yeah i think the Ch.R.W. were released in 68 or 69 and were much more used and popular on the B bodies. I actually don't like them (in original form) on any Mopar really. And you are right, they look silly on the SUperBee etc becasue they get lost in those huge guards. I don't mind mine too much as they have been made 15" and widened to 10" and 8.5" with a big offset and those babies really do fill the guards now. with less than 1/2" to spare. here's mine on a 68 Charger:

Every one has mixed feelings on this. NOW I know how the bride feels when she asks what shoes to put on. I like the magnums myself, But they are not true Magnums, I beleive the factory called them Road wheels, they have a bit of crome in the center the rest is painted black and argent coverd by a S.S trim ring, The Magnum was all crome? I prefer the LOOK ALIKE Magnum, but after I put the poverty caps on her they kinda grow on ya. Thank all for the ideas enjoy the summer

Wow guys lots of good ideas. Now I know how the wife feels when she asks which shoes to wear, I like the Magnums myself I dont magnums I have the dodge road wheels with the s.s. trim rings. The "chrome road wheels" had a chrome outer edge. But later on that changed to a stainless trim ring.

Now I used to know when they changed to the trim ring but it is one of the many things lost to my memory now. I have a feeling it was around 1969 or something though.

That sounds about right. I know I have seen 68 Super Bee's with the Chrome wheels and the above pictures show a 69 Charger with the trim rings.

Even though the technical name was NOT "magnum" they are refered to as Magnum 500 "style" wheels by many.
