Newbie here, A78 Formal Roof 71 Challenger - Baltimore, Md

Hey everyone. I stumbled across this site last night while typing in A78 into google. I spend most of the time @ cuda-challenger.com but i was happy to see another community here as well! i already recognize Carl here, NZ440R/T so at least there is a familiar face.

So, my car(s), I own a 71 Challenger, originally an F7 Green, 318 car, 727 with a ton of options. I'll have to list them sometime. my car isnt perfect, im always doing something to it, and there will come a day when i do another paint job and tear it down again. But im very happy for now! Ive had this car for about 7 yrs now, got a GREAT deal at the time.

sorry to the purists out there but its now 70 B5, with a stroked 360..
I didnt want to do anything unchangeable since i was fairly aware of the rarity. after reading the other posts, it looks WAY more rare than thought, but still is not confirmed.

I also have a 69 Dart ongoing project, been around cars most of my life but didnt get intetrested until the age of 19 or so. My father still has the car my mom drove when i was 5, a 74 Barracuda. oh, and im here from Maryland.

oh, and i havent "added" any options except the raised hood and exhaust cutout valence. I will be sure and post my fender tags up with a proper decode sometime, but what you see is everything it came with. I had to find another cassette player b/c that was missing. it even has its "made in USA" tag for international export. I need to install the A/C again one of these days...

I removed the body side mouldings b/c i hated them...... with the rubber inserts...

I think you are doing a good job on it to be honest. Probably exactly what I would do with the same car. No need for AC here in the UK though. We only get a few weeks of hot weather a year so its not worth it.

I post a little on Cuda-Challenger too. But I wear a disguise.

The car looks really nice. 8) Welcome to the board.

Thats awesome that you're taking the time to revive the dart! That is quite a project! I can't believe some of the guys running junkyards over here, they do stupid stuff like that all the time, just cut and run.

I was looking at a 69 charger in a junkyard a while back, and I came back to buy it, and the guy had hacked out the rear window section to halfway down the quarters because some guy wanted rear window patch panels and he offered it cheaper than the panels. :s001: I could've screamed.

Is that roof braced somehow? Sorry, wandering mind,

I know of Dave's nickname over there, along with a few other traitors. :s023: You boys just can't get enough Mopar action can ya.

Nice to have you aboard Wally. There is a wide range of information here from a mostly respectable group of Challenger fanatics.

I did alot of triple measuring, the front end was supported, so there was virtually no weight to flex the body when it was cut. the front end is on with doors now and it all lined up..... :s006:

Thanks guys  I have some progress photos, but I need to download them. I'll be sure and get them up one of these days.

I dont know what the guy with the Dart was thinking, but he basically just left me with the top of the cowl and thats it. Ludacris.
