I'm new to this site and have finally figured out how to show some photos but I have no idea what order they are in. This is my 71 R/T project that I bought in Ohio in March 06.

Sorry about that, I guess i should have entered them the other way, believe it or not i had them the other way, previewed it , then changed them all to this order. Whatever, you get the idea.

Welcome to the board. We just can´t get enough of Challenger pic´s, that is for sure!

Rust in the usual places, right? Have you decided to convert it from auto to manual? In which colour do you plan to paint it? Nice to see your progress.

You are not the only one who has been puzzled by the order the pic´s are shown. Some time ago Johan added the following text. "Notice: Attachments appear in reverse order when adding them and previewing message. This is known problem. Sorry!" Apparently you did not notice this text.

Looks like you are making good progress Chris. We do love to see pics no matter what order they are in. Can you tell us more about the car?
What size engine? What tranny? stock rebuild or modified? What color?etc, etc,

Welcome Chris. Looks great. What are you going to do for an engine? Use that one sitting on the floor? Are you planning any mods to it?

The engine on the floor is a correct 383 HP , I think i'm going to keep it and put a stroker kit in it. It is an original 4 spd 383 car but it looks like i put that hump in the floor but it was there allready, i just had to take it out to fix the rust then put it back after. I plan to paint it the original colour which is B5 blue with the 71 R/T stripes. Thanks for the welcome guys.

This is how my bumper looks like and the car was built on 22 Jan 1971.

A 383 stroker, 434 or so would be sweet! Quick revs, compact package you could even go bigger than that! :thumbsup:

Thanks for the picture Hezzel, I'm going to pull mine down from the top of the garage today and compare the bolt holes to yours. And Eddie, once I take that motor in and have it checked out I will get back on here and get your advice on what to do with it. It sounds like you know your stuff on motors from what I've been reading on here.

Thanks Chris, glad to help. Too bad you dont live closer because this summer I am going to need 1 complete engine like your's to re-build for my engine classII which I have to take over due to advances in engine design since my tech classes back in 1992. So I'll get credit for completing an engine for free for a customer that wants it done. The only cost will be for machining the block and all parts. The labor for assembly, and all cylinder head re-building is free. This includes breaking the engine in on the stand and tuning it.(I am taking the complete 2 year auto tech program, it's free for me cause my veterans benefits, might as well take full advantage of it) :lol:

That would be great if you were closer,I dont know what it would cost to ship the motor to you from the Windsor Detroit area, it might be worth it, but even your advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a seasonal business which is about to start up and i get most of the work on the car done in the winter but i would like to get the motor and paint done this summer and finish the rest next winter so i can drive it hopefully next spring.

Heres a picture of the two bumpers that came with the car , if anyone can tell by looking if these are for a 71 or not let me know. Or even if they will work on a 71 because i will need the 70 style bumperetes for the back, and i dont think there are bumperettes for the front.

Yeah, Chris, shipping would be tough but the offer stands if you want to pursue it. I see those bumpers have the slits for the Jack in them. Barry or Dave/Pat/Jack T would probably know 100%. I had a set of my original 1970 which I re-chromed and set of 71's with those slits in them which I gave to a friend re-storing his 71. My 1970's didnt have those slits in them and no bumperettes in the front just the end ones located towards the ends in the rear. I can get you detailed pics if you like?

They look right to me. There were three bumper changes in the 1971 model year so the exact ones for your car depends on the build date.

But I am sure they will fit.

Thanks Patrick, but it sounds like these bumpers are the correct ones ,but i do have a pair of 73 front seats and it came with 2 different sets of bumper brackets for the front, and as you can see in the pictures a 73 steering wheel.

Thanks, Its been alot of work and its taking longer than i had hoped. I did get the B5 blue paint on a couple of weeks ago, but they want to wait 30 days before sanding it down again and buffing it. after that I will post some more pictures.

My May 24 1971 built Challenger RT has the slots in the bumpers also. Here is a picture of the front bumper.
