You will have to remove that plastic bit on the starter motor to fit it.

Air shocks are a bad idea if they are being used because the rear springs are sagging. The top shock mount is not built to take the weight of the car. Better to get the springs fixed.

Yes thats correct, took me 10mins to figure that out when I bought mine and tried to fit it, stood there like a dumb monkey scratching my head and when I figured it out I looked around to make sure nobody was watching me, man I felt daft!!

Nice parts! Dave, I remember using those Hi-Jackers back in the 70's on our machines. We used em for 'tyre' clearance! Of course it made the car slower, we just wanted the look! Fat rubber, then the outer wheel wells would rub, so the Hi-Jackers gave us the clearance and a "drag car" look. But you are correct about that crossmember, not for structural support!

Suspension

Postby challenger_gr » 31 Mar 2008 21:36

So the best way around for the rear suspension is to harden the leafs and go that way,now im running the car on a set of coil over shock and the clearance is fine ,of course i put the new cragars on today and the clearance in the wheel well to the tire looks that it could be lower down no problem .

Yes the best way is to make the springs do the work. The top shock mount is just a U-shaped beam of mild steel. Not strong enough to take the suspension forces.

If the springs have just sagged you can get them re-shaped and re-tempered to get the original height and spring rate back. Any local leaf spring repairers should be able to do that quite cheaply for you.

If you want stronger springs they can even add an extra leaf for you.

Alternatively you can get a new pair of springs from www.espo.com in the US. Althgough they don't seem to advertise them on their website any more. As far as I know they do still sell them.
